Quoted from erak:

YES THEY WILL. I was banned twice for posting asking about code.
my exact post the first time I was banned for was just this.
"I just picked up a X-men magneto LE, it's a fantastic game.
Any chance of another code update?"
I was banned and sent an email to Stern asking why.
I was then unbanned.
The last xmen code update came out a week later.
Then before the last ST update I asked about a code update for Star Trek. I was banned again.
I didn't bother to email Stern to try to get unbanned as they can now go $@#% themselves.

I called Stern for code info.
"Soon" was the answer I got from them.
LOL
We need to continue hammering them.
January 31 is a good idea.
I am banned on their site because of a statement asking for a code update, but a group from Pinside showing up at the same time might be harder to ignore.
They have really really really thin skin.
Code has reached a boiling point, and we won't remain quiet anymore.

If the T-Shirts get made, people should wear them at the show.
But...
People need to approach Gary and his staff at the show, and have a face to face discussion with them.
Call them out on the poor software updates.
You don't need to yell, scream, or curse at them, but people need to have a serious discussion with them at the show.
You might want to say to them:
I would really like to buy a NIB from your company, but the lack of code is keeping me from buying a NIB.
What are you doing about the lack of code situation?
Why are stated features still not functional?
We are the customers, thus we have a right to have a face to face with them.
Facebook, Pinside, and T-Shirts can be silenced, but they can't silence customers at their booth.

#1106 9 years ago

Why would they ban you from the show?
Customers are asking questions.
I didn't say get hostile with them.
If people get banned, it is sad how they treat their customers.
People need to boycott their products, thus not buying NIB.

#1108 9 years ago

I have never seen a company have little or no respect for their customers.
I buy a lot of products, and most companies take care of their customers when problems arise.
Boycotting might be the only tactic we have to force change from Stern.

#1109 9 years ago
Quoted from jfh:

He was kidding.

It wouldn't surprise me if Stern tried to ban people.
The nastiness from their Facebook and ban on T-Shirts.

#1116 9 years ago

You might want to say to them:
Those new pins look awesome, but I am not buying another new pin from Stern until you implement a better code deployment system.
They can't give a corporate BS answer with the above statement.

#1157 9 years ago

We could lock Gary in a room, and not allow him any vodka, thus make him sober up, and face reality until we get our game code.

#1161 9 years ago

This is how I feel about code promises from Gary and Stern Inc.

Official Stern Bullshit Detector

#1170 9 years ago
Quoted from Ed_in_Texas:

Because some pinball shows spend thousands of dollars on airfare and hotel (and marketing) to bring their special guests and speakers to the show. Sometimes the company that employs some of the special guests also gives a lot of support to the show. Hundreds of people come to the show to see those guests to either listen to their talks, have something autographed, or get a picture. The show has thousands of dollars invested in the event and wants everyone to enjoy themselves, have an awesome time, and the event to be a success. The show does not want their event to become a "protest ground zero" where their guests may feel harassed or uncomfortable. If the special guests do not have a good time or they fear being ambushed, they will stop attending shows. Not because they don't care, but because no one likes to be heckled, harassed, or embarrassed when they are there at the invite of the show organizers. If they didn't care, they wouldn't come in the first place. The show is not going to take sides and will do what it feels is best for the show. This holds true for all guests of the show including Stern, JJP, Multimorphic, Spooky Pinball, Dutch Pinball, etc. A good show will always want their special guest speakers to feel welcome and want to come back. If that means a couple attendees that cross the line and are perceived to be causing trouble get booted, that's what may happen (but I truly hope not). A welcomed, civil conversation is fine, but if you're already wearing a shirt with a logo designed to antagonize a company, I doubt any conversation would be welcomed. I'm not saying your cause isn't without merit, just that a pinball show should not be your battleground.

When is a good time to get answers from Stern?
They delete our questions on Facebook.
If you call them, we get generic corporate BS statements.
Star Trek has promised features that aren't utilized with software.
The code deployment sucks, and takes years to get a finished product.
We are paying customers, and should be allowed to put a little heat on them at the show.
The T-Shirts are asking a simple question.
We get no communication from Stern, which has caused customers to reach a boiling point.
They need to feel a little uncomfortable.

#1173 9 years ago
Quoted from kbliznick:

Looks like he wasn't kidding.
I do agree with Ed that you shouldn't be confrontational with anybody and to mostly let the T-shirt speak for itself, but there is no other way for Gary Stern to feel but uncomfortable or embarrassed if he is asked about incomplete code. Wouldn't you be if you owned a company and took pride in your work or your products (which I do and I do) and you now have a history of not finishing the games you make. It was more tolerable when it was only 1-2 games at a time needing code (the spiderman, TDK, early AC/DC days,) but at this point there are something like 7+ unfinished games.

I agree rude and confrontational behavior doesn't solve anything, but we need to make them uncomfortable and put a little heat on them to finish their products.

#1176 9 years ago

If they fix the problem, people won't make them feel uncomfortable at the show.
Simple solution...

#1185 9 years ago
Quoted from calvin12:

Corporate bs statement when you call, it's the same exact thing you would get if stern answered on fb. So there is no reason for them to do so

That is why everyone needs to use the Stern Bullshit Detector.
LOL
What's that smell Gary?
It smells like vodka mixed with bullshit.
LOL

#1187 9 years ago
Quoted from dantebean:

I was joking about being banned from a pinball show. I really don't wish ill on "Code Crusaders" or Stern. I think the message is out there and if Stern has the pride for their product, they will issue a statement to their end user.
Will end this with a quote from Star Trek.
"Shots fired"

It is sad.
Customers are at the bottom of the food chain.
Stern treats customers like crap, and gets undeserving protection.
They can BS the crowds at the shows.

#1191 9 years ago

Zitt,
Why doesn't Gary wake up and smell the coffee?
People are really upset about the situation.

#1194 9 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

Stern does not have any answers.
It's not like they are hiding code updates for some big reveal.
Gary is not a programmer, he is just a figurehead.
Jody is not a programmer, he can't tell you anything on Facebook.
SR is not a programmer, he can only tell you that he is playtesting each code revision as it comes up to him.
-
Go play and enjoy your games.
When I play AC/DC, I don't stand there worrying that I'm missing some mode - I'm playing a high energy, kickass game.
If the code gets updated someday, great!
If somehow it doesn't, I won't lose any sleep over it. I still have one of the greatest games of all time.

They aren't working on code updates, thus there aren't any answers.
Gary is sitting on the code.
Sitting, not meaning there is code being withheld.
LE has features that do absolutely nothing.
I am not staying quiet anymore, and encouraging others to have a voice.
Pins cost a lot of money, and software needs to get support.

I think you are a Stern employee or Gary in disguise.

^Best post is this thread^
However this is the sort of nonsense that keeps me from joining this effort
371648.jpg
WHY ON EARTH DO YOU PAY "RIDICULOUS" PRICES FOR A FREAKING TOY??!!?? Doesn't it strike you as a bit crazy?? Jeeebus people these machines aren't saving lives they are for entertainment. If you think the price is ridiculous DON'T PAY IT. I realize that means you won't have a pinball machine but maybe your lives will be better for it because it will remove what appears to be a tremendous amount of stress.

Another Stern employee...
LOL
People aren't stressed out, but we are tired of the poor software.
If I had an issue with my car, I would approach the dealer for a fix.
LE has features that do absolutely nothing.
Stern doesn't communicate anything to us, thus we are getting more vocal.
I am not stressed about the code, but we want it fixed.
You have your opinion, and a lot of us have our opinions.
If you like crappy software, you can be silent, and accept the poor service.
Most people are tired of the situation, and we are going to fight back.
Customers deserve to be heard when there are issues with a product.

#1210 9 years ago
Quoted from dantebean:

You guys need to take the weekend off. Your blood pressure will thank you for it.

LOL
I am not stressed.
I am rallying our cause.
It feels good to help pin people like ourselves fight for good code.

#1216 9 years ago
Quoted from pinworthy:

My bad I assumed "really upset" = stress

That is a shame but wait a sec... how do you know, did you PLAY an LE?? Aren't those an "investment" and supposed to sit the box for a couple years before being resold ??

You know what the word assume means.
You make an ass out of yourself.
My LE is setup in my gameroom, and it gets played, thus missing features are noticeable.
You like crappy code, thus you don't have a problem.
If you don't like our thread, don't read it.
We aren't putting up with crappy code.

Gary owns the company, and doesn't have a clue how to increase code development.
That is BS...
He can have a meeting with his management, and request development, timelines, and communication for software updates.
He doesn't request updates because he doesn't want to spend money making the pins better.
He has our money, and doesn't care about the customers.
Stop making excuses for Gary...

Thanks for all your hard work!!!
There are a few people that disagree with our movement, but there is a large group tired of the shenanigans, and wants completed code and promised features.
No one is going to keep us silent.

#1226 9 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

Sit down and have a drink with Gary.
It won't take long to discover that he is a gentleman from a bygone era.
Mention CNC techniques for faster playfield production, or software networking ideas, and he is blank.
It's like asking the Queen of England about Britain's GDP, she'll probably not be able to tell you much.

I didn't say Gary knows about computers, but he has an IT manager who handles those issues.
CEOs play golf and drink fine wine, but they hire managers to deal with problems.
I am sure Gary is aware of the code problems, thus he would have a meeting with his IT manager to fix the problems.
He would delegate the software problem to his IT department.
He would hold them accountable for fixing the problems.
If they don't perform their jobs, he can find other people who can fix the problems.
He doesn't have to be a software expert to request updates from his IT folks.
The problem is his lack of trying to fix the problem.
He takes our money, and doesn't care about customer issues.
He doesn't need computer skills.
He needs good leadership skills to drive action into his company.
If he doesn't step up to the plate, his company will go under.
Poor leadership has destroyed a lot of companies.

Quoted from vid1900:

At least you will have JJP, and get a new title every 3 years.
Pinball will survive!!!!!!

I don't want JJP.
I want completed code for Star Trek.
If he can't hold his people accountable for fixing problems, the customers will show their voice.
We vote with dollars, and can demand better service.
If we give him enough heat, he might be forced to serve us better.
I have a multi-thousand dollar pin, and will not let him off the hook for code.

#1233 9 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

Just don't buy any new pins - UNLESS the code is done enough for your liking.
No sense bitching, crying and menstruating about unfinished code; it happens with EVERY game from both JJP and Stern.
You have plenty of other games to play - play them.
After 3 years, if a game has final code, and you like the final code, then buy it.

My other 2 pins are older games.
Star Trek is the only NIB game I own in my collection.
I refuse to buy NIB anymore, and won't buy another Stern until they have better software support.
I would like to trade Star Trek, but I will lose money on the deal, plus older pins like Twilight Zone have reached an extreme high.
I won't sell the pin, but I will continue pressuring Stern to finish their product.

#1247 9 years ago

Hey pinworthy,
We are trying to bring change to the code shenanigans.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained...
You have been complaining about this movement in every message.
What are you doing?
Bitching and whining...
How does this movement affect you personally unless you are a Stern employee?
As far as a car, it is an example of a product.
We could use the mythical accounting unit - widget...
I think you are a Stern lawyer because you constantly bring up the fine print.
Stern should want their games to be top notch, and give customers updates.
New Flash:
The current code is filled with bugs, thus the code is crap.
Have you seen the bug thread on Pinside supplied by customers...
You have a problem with assuming, but my group isn't the asses.
You are wrong about a lot of things.
You sound like a Stern fanboy that must be butt hurt.
I have emailed and called Stern, and either I get no answer or a generic BS answer.
You need to do your homework before shooting your mouth off on this thread.
At least we are trying to make a difference unlike you.
You like to bitch about us, and I have some cheese to go along with your whine.

#1248 9 years ago
Quoted from Arcade:

Steve Ritchie just asked Keith Elwin to be a beta code tester for the new Star Trek code 5 hrs ago.
At least we know things are moving forward.

I hope this news is true, and the news is positive for Star Trek owners.

#1251 9 years ago
Quoted from erak:

I think one of the main problems most people are upset about how ST is being handled is the fact that the Karl urban speech pack update was announced.
It then came out, what was it, 8 months after.
Then within hours a bug thread popped up. As some modes can't be finished under certain circumstances. No tournament mode in menu Etc.
And the asteroids still not working on prem & LE
So 8 months to record and add a speech update and add some new features. Test for bugs
Then a few hours after release. Owners start to notice the mistakes and bugs. ( I thought stern tests for this)
And if you look at the release before that one actually more was added and changed and fixed in the previous update.
Which was only 2 months after release. With less bugs
Then mustang was released
Then IMVE
Then TWD
Then MMr announced
Then the move announced
Then Woah Nellie
Then they are selling mods
Then Spike and WWE
This does not give me much faith that they can produce a final quality code.
As there is far to much on the companys plate now.
8+ months is too long to wait for a bug patch.
I think some are misunderstanding this protest.
Its not that owners are whining and demanding more.
Owners are just fed up with the poor and sloppy code support for the games they paid for.
And the fact that Stern abandons games to move on to the next too quickly.

erak:
You completely understand this movement.
You have dealt with Stern's crappy service.
I am glad you are one of us.

#1254 9 years ago
Quoted from movingpictures:

Pretty funny that the person behind this "movement" chose to be identified as 'Flashinstinct' in media coverage.
He has no problem attacking real people working real jobs at Stern, all the while disassociating himself personally from the attack by hiding behind a pseudonym.
Brave, truly.

Being a critic and taking cheap shots is a true coward.
At least he is doing something to improve the shenanigans.
Stern has taken a hit by this effort.
He has accomplished more than you have pertaining to code deficiencies.

#1256 9 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

TZ got a boost because 7 years later, Ted Estes wrote a mega software release for the game (on his own time).
It added a bunch of new features (like pause and mute), fixed some bugs (and introduced lots of new ones), it really made the game!

A game I hope to own one day.
Price is too high now.
When the time is right I will buy one.
