You are correct. I just re-read the fine print and even if we don't reach 50 the 16 people so far will receive t-shirts It would be nice to reach the goal to give more to an organization. Currently we are only going to be giving away around $50 bucks!

Which charity is the money going to?

#853 9 years ago

Not sure. No one as decided yet. I know Bryan Kelly's charity as been thrown out there.

How about my 2nd pinball machine fund?

#855 9 years ago

I was thinking when pinballproject have another pinball draw..... I know it's a Stern but it could be a finished one!

I want to be invited to play then

Don't let the stop you. Project Pinball group is awesome.
And the whole idea is to entertain kids. Any pin will do that finished code or not.

It would be awesome if a fundraiser against incomplete coded games went to a charity that promotes those same incomplete coded games.

So...to be clear....right now, the crusade has all of 16 members?

Hey, if anyone wants to donate to a REAL pinball charity, you know, RIGHT NOW...here you go. http://pinballoutreach.org/

+this is not my charity, and is not a message from them!+

#861 9 years ago

There are people out there, RIGHT NOW, that would love to play pinball regardless of "completed" code. Get a grip, and a f+++ing perspective.

#862 9 years ago

Nhm, welcome to my ignore list! Please, enjoy the stay with the other 45 people.

Good! Don't need or want people like you in the pinball community.

You guys are really taking this way too seriously.

The Facebook thing and the Tshirts are just a little fun to let off steam.

Stern knows about their code, nothing is going to change the pace of their releases.

#865 9 years ago

Fine by me if they choose to remain uncompetitive in the software ring.

So...just to prove how stupid this little thread is...I just donated $10 to pinside, RIGHT NOW. I then donated $10 to pinballoutreach.org...RIGHT FING NOW. I don't get a tshirt. I don't quable about BS 1st world problems. I just contributed $20, RIGHT NOW, to proactive, valid, established, pinball organizations and charities. Step it up with your 16+ crusaders.

It's ALL sounding pretty dopey to me....
...why would you participate in a stupid thread?

Just to point out the valid ways in which someone could spend their $20 to support pinball...rather than buying a shitty, self indulgent tshirt. Because, there ARE very good and valid pinball charities. People should know about that.

#869 9 years ago

Note that the person pushing this agenda has given $0 to pinside.

#870 9 years ago

Ok...but I thought it was all in fun.
...I think it's time for all of us to have a margarita and a stogie!

#871 9 years ago
Quoted from chessiv:

The issue is not programmers. The issue is Gary Stern and stern management.
They push the machines out without complete code then push the programmers on to the next machine.

This is the reason why Lyman is revered for using his own spare time to finish off code, because Stern gives only the briefest of company time for their developers to go back to finish off older games. Just keep in mind Stern HAS added 4 additional programmers in recent years (yet deliver only 2/3 of the games as they did with the original 2)

Quoted from vid1900:

It's totally true
If you are a programmer, I don't have to explain "Brook's Law".
If you are not a programmer, Google it.

Brooks law is not relevant here, it's always the original developers who go back to finish off the code, never new ones, much less additional developers.

Sweet. Buying one now! I was holding off until I could confirm I could get one vs having to do it locally.

"stupid is as stupid does"

#874 9 years ago

Dang, smoked by the copyright police. It's all good people. Donate your money to good causes. Donate to pinside, donate to pinballoutreach.org. Give some games to kids to play.

Great idea. I need a new smoking shirt though....

This thread is enjoyable. It would be better without the self righteous BS you pitching.Lighten up, go play your games and have a beer. This is just pinball.

Life is better with an ignore feature

That's why I love Ted Estes and his TZ work many years latter !

Well shirt campaign is cancelled. Pinside received a copyright infrigement letter about the tshirts from Stern.

So I guess this means that Stern DOES look at what we post here on Pinside

#883 9 years ago

Everyone that reserved a shirt will not get charged. I guess they didn't like the idea of people wearing shirts at shows.

#884 9 years ago

These shirts will now be Collectors Items! $10K by April 1st!

#885 9 years ago

Still like the idea of playing cards (collect and trade at various shows) cheap and can be done quickly

#886 9 years ago
Quoted from Captain_Kirk:

Ordered my Star Trek Premium today!
First NIB!
Not worried about the code on this one. I know Ritchie will deliver.

Ritchie's not programming the game. He said code was coming the week after Expo in October '14. It's now March '15. The game came out December '13 and there are STILL features on that Premium that do absolutely NOTHING. You just took a very expensive risk despite knowing the reality of the situation. Odd, but it's your money.

That is awesome.
People can make their own shirts anyway.
Glad to know that Stern is watching even though they don't seem to learn anything.
The instruction card replacements are going to make a bigger impact at pinball shows anyway.

can you make shirts with that?

#896 9 years ago
Quoted from labnip:

I could. The font that is used is Kevilinized which is a free font!

#897 9 years ago

seems like they're extremely concerned about having these shirts on folks at TPF in a few weeks.

#898 9 years ago

Go for it.

Wouldn't you be if someone stole your logo and then sold shirts with derogatory text?
