Pinball drones, I'm assuming.
Remind me not to be under that flight path when OZ gets moved.

Automobiles and humans... lots of them.

It's an issue we've been working on for quite a while. Without getting into too many details, it will involve a team of professional movers and and a second team of levelers. One thing most people may not realize is we already re-level ~500 games twice a year when we rearrange the facility between events. The timing and effort it takes is significant, but with the right planning and teamwork, it can be done successfully in our current situation.

The amount of work that goes into hosting these PAPA events is astounding, and you guys are super awesome for handling all of this!

Hope to see you there ;o)

I was at Pinburgh as a spectator this year and loved it! I've already signed up for this year's PAPA WC and I hope I'll be able to register for next year's Pinburgh before it fills up.
Wow, this looks EPIC! If anybody can pull of an event of this scale, it's Mark and his team from PAPA.
Looks like I'll be needing a few more days off next summer -- how far is it to Pittsburgh anyway??
Quoted from Plungemaster:This announcement is as exciting as a newspaper headline of some cow has broke the fence in the village of Scheveningen.
Scheveningen???? OMG! Not the cow fence!
Quoted from joelreeves:Wow, this looks EPIC! If anybody can pull of an event of this scale, it's Mark and his team from PAPA.
Amen to this! If anyone can pull off something like this, it is the PAPA people.

I'm going to start a separate post for this at some point in the future, but this post reminded me... if you run a gaming convention, please contact me. I want to use whatever platform we can build with ReplayFX to help promote other gaming events. If permitted by the organizers, I would like to set out a banner advertisement in a high-traffic area for Louisville, Calx, Expo, TPF, Northwest, Zapcon, Southern-Fried and others in the hopes that we can raise awareness for those events while at our own.
Interesting how the Pinburgh schedule got moved back a day now. first round on thursday, finals on Saturday. I assume to accommodate for those traveling back on Sunday, especially those from overseas.
I am a bit puzzled as to why the previous Pinburgh have had a rule that payed the group with the highest seeded player the privilledge to pick the play order of games within a bank. I mean both (all) groups sharing a bank have to play all games anyway.
The arrangement for 2015 as described here where play order is dictated to minimise waiting and delay for all players high or low makes much better sense to me.

Highest seed didn't pick game order. The higher group started on the far most left game and played in order from left to right.

I'm guessing this schedule will allow for the majority of Pinburgh machines to be made available for non-competitors to enjoy on Saturday. Once the tournament has been whittled down to the playoffs only a fraction of the machines are needed for competition.

Probably to give the Pinburgh people a chance to explore the rest of the festival on Sunday
Quoted from BoJo:Dang, no more after party I take it
I guess that'll just be for PAPA now.

Yeah, long full days to compete on the Pinburgh schedule!

The new situation will offer beer / refreshments in the room, live music, entertainers, a laser show on the ceiling, all of the previous games any many more, and countless other things to do. Admittedly we won't all get to watch the dumpy building across the street and wonder if any more bricks will fall off, but the party atmosphere should survive, if not improve.

We enjoyed that actually...gave us "the Detroit Vibe" when we were there
Quoted from KevInBuffalo:I, for one, look forward to not having to traverse the Bridge of Death on the way to play pinball.
I could not agree more

It's Pittsburgh, they have plenty of these

Hopefully not in the tourney area during the Pinburgh rounds!
Quoted from John_I:Kate Upton will become the new papa.tv spokesmodel.
Mark my words, you heard it here first.
So... just so we are all on the same page... no Kate Upton?

There was no such rule at Pinburgh 2014. The only place such a rule applies is during final rounds, where the player with the highest seed is rewarded with the choice of bank selection; the order of the machine play is not under any player's control.
Those rules will not be changing for Pinburgh 2015.
anything mhs bek km dougie elizabeth and posse does just support it..never question it. they are the best, very intelligent and very innovative. just follow suit and show up. this is all amazing to me. i was (am) a video game pro first and pinball was second. i won my mint donkey kong in the tpf donkey kong tournament a few years back (before kong off and King of Kong) and won several other vids in tourneys. mixing this with pinball is superb. ill be playing in both tourneys and im sure trent and fred c. will as well. . Bring it all on!
More reasons to bring the whole family. what kid doesn't have a console system? What adult doesn't (or never did)?
This event will be larger than most realize. its very exciting.
I will be there, but I won't be playing. Fortunately I will be a part of helping run this event and am proud to say I am. I'll certainly miss playing but for me, helping is going to be just as gratifying as playing. I'm sure I will be getting a few games of Robotron as well as some others. Can't wait!
Quoted from bayoubilly70:So... just so we are all on the same page... no Kate Upton?
Anastasia can be our spokesperson! She's more awesome!
I am not sure what these changes really mean as I have never been to pinburgh before, but either way major PROPS to you guys for heading up such an amazing competition and making it even bigger/ trying to move the ball forward by getting more/ younger crowd involved!
Quoted from SOD:I will be there, but I won't be playing. Fortunately I will be a part of helping run this event and am proud to say I am. Robotron FTW! Yes, this will be an awesome event. And we'll have PAPA for the PAPA scene, just once per year.
Quoted from silver_spinner:This event will be larger than most realize.
As a starting point, we have 110,000 square feet not counting the auditorium and additional rooms we've acquired. It will be an exciting year bringing it all together.

The man in charge of the Cleveland Classic Arcade and Games Expo (more of a video game type show than pinball, although sometimes there may be a few pinball games in the freeplay arcade room) is in the same pinball league I'm in and runs a store in my area, so if a show like that is the kind of thing you're looking for I could mention to him that he should contact you.

I'm sure that the rest of this massive show will compensate to a degree, but being able to buy pricey/limited-selection beers isn't the same as the coolers-and-lawn-chairs tailgate breaks. But we'll be at PAPA in March for that!
There is plenty of tailgating at CAX, which is held at a convention center. Does this convention center have armed guards in towers surrounding the parking lot? I know some parking areas are more/ less conducive to tailgating. What's the deal here?
At Raider's games for years, the choice areas for tailgating was near fence by the freeway. They never had many portable toilets in the parking lot, so guys would prefer to relieve themselves at the bush covered fence. Good times. I think they've added some outhouses since then.
As long as your parked in a private lot, and the owner okays it, you can tailgate your ass off in Pa.
Yes. Tailgating happens in Pittsburgh.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Raider fan would be proud.

The PBGH Convention center has a parking garage built into the facility. It's right in the city--no outdoor parking lots under the sun, no grass, no enclosing fences, nothing but an enclosed/attached multilevel concrete parking garage. Believe me, it is NOT conducive to tailgating (probably is not allowed), and nothing like the outdoor concert scene linked above. And I can't imagine walking to the garage during breaks and hanging by cars. Pretty sure alcohol is forbidden in the garage too. Seriously, forget about tailgating at the convention center.
BTW, CAX is held at a large hotel. This is a convention center. Big difference!

In all due respect, if this is your biggest concern, you should just have a BBQ at your house that weekend or something.
There's booze IN the convention center, and there will be plenty of places to hang out with your buddies. If the cost is that much of an issue, buy a flask.
Quoted from tb0ne:In all due respect, if this is your biggest concern, you should just have a BBQ at your house that weekend or something.
LOL I live hundreds of miles away--how would that work? No BBQ possible here anyway. And have you ever been to PAPA or Pinburgh? The parking lot scene is really a highlight, with the socializing, barbecue by the main door, beer runs, community coolers, etc. Great atmosphere for fresh air and talking pinball during breaks. [And the phrase is "*with* all due respect..."]
Like I said, it's still there for PAPA, just not for this new/expanded Pinburgh, alas.

I have been, and I don't disagree. It just seems like an odd thing to be that concerned about when there's so many advantages to moving the location.
Thanks for the grammar correction.

I too enjoyed the tailgating as much as the tournament inside. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes.
