Good morning,

On my "Creature from the Black Lagoon" (which is currently at a children hospital so they can have a little bit of fun), the main fuse blows after a week or so. I replaced it three times already, on the second time I replaced the varistor as well (although it did not show any sign of being burned - but just to be sure), but that did not change the outcome.

The fuses on the power board do not blow. The game works fine once the main fuse has been replaced.

I'm using a 5A Slow Blow, as per manual recommandation (I'm in Europe, so it's not a 110V supply).

Besides the varistor, what could cause the fuse to blow over time ? A defective transformer ?

Cheers

A bad power switch. Ive seen it before. Random internal arcing.

If it's plugged into an extension cord or power strip, plug it directly into the wall. Make sure the power cord is at least 18 gauge and not too long. Most cords have specs printed or stamped on them. 16 gauge is best.

If you changed the varistor (MOV) and not the thermistor, change the thermistor. They're cheap. Check connectors J115, J120 and J121 on driver board for burnt connectors. Also check the connector on the big harness coming off the transformer with lots of yellow wires for burnt pins. Repair any burnt connectors. Never heard of the filter causing main fuse to blow, but those are relatively cheap too. Couldn't hurt to try a new one. Hope you get it figured out.
