I also tried to replicate this issue but was unable to.
Random thoughts: What happens if you try scrolling down? Maybe you need to zoom out?

That's some crazy stuff going on. First time I ever heard about the character deleting bug.
Regardless, I will fire up my Android test phone next week and try and figure out what might be happening.
You're using the latest Chrome, straight from the Play store? Any weird settings on your phone that may cause this? A non-standard keyboard? Extensions/plugins? Just thinking out loud here.
