I ordered some magnetic bit holders to replace a bit holder I snapped, but magnets on these are fairly weak:

They are just enough to hold a bit, but not also hold a screw.

My old bit holder was magnetic enough to hold a bit and a screw. Are there any magnets I could get or other bit holders that are magnetic enough to also hold a screw along with a bit?

    Quoted from Don_C:

It may not hold screws well because a lot of pinball screws with hex heads have a flange that prevents the screw head from going down into the socket opening and getting close to the magnet.
I ground off the open end of the socket until the top of the screw heads touches the magnet. Works very well now.
    Don C.

It's not just hex head screws and sockets, but phillips head bits and screws as well.

I'm using the same bits and sockets as I did before--just a different bit holder.

After trying a few magnetic bit holders, I think I found one that works ok.

Milwaukee Shockwave Compact Magnetic Bit Tip Holder-48-32-4502

It's available from various hardware stores, ebay, and amazon, so it should be easy to find.
