I just finished a Stern Meteor. I replaced the two cables from the MPU to the sound card. They were 16 pin cables. The last two pins were not used (pins 33 & 34).

The Magic I'm working on has two 17 pin cables. I'm having problems with the Magic sounds - one day it works and the next day it don't. The problem may be in the cables. I'd like to try the new Meteor cables in the Magic to see if that's the problem.

So the question is will the two 16 pin cables work on the Magic if leave the last two pins blank (pins 33 & 34)?

Also the volume control pot is working backwards. - clockwise the volume goes down - counterclockwise volume goes up.

Thanks Coyote,

I didn't think those last two pins did anything. I'll switch cables and see if my sound comes back.

I'll probably switch the wires on the pot too when I get a chance.
