Awesome, reply sent.

Bumping this - I purchased and installed mod almost a year ago (see post on 1st page of this thread), and I have not had one single airball since. Prior to installing, this was an airball machine causing game stoppage as well as a lot of damage to the components in the machine. Just wanted to bump to thanks maffewl again for this awesome quality mod. Every single POTC should have this installed!

#57 6 years ago

PM sent, looks like a really nice mod to get rid of the hideous sneeze guard!

Just installed the ship guard this game should have come with!

Great simple idea, works perfectly, and was packaged quite nicely. Now I can see the pirate ship perfectly, especially the light up cannon fire the mod the former owner installed. Highly recommendable inexpensive mod.

Barely see it during game play. And no air balls!!

Thanks Bill. I removed the sneeze guard this evening and installed your protector. I have a clamp (various sizes) to hold the nut while unscrewing the screws from the sneeze guard.

The two posts that the protector needed to connect to also needed to be held in place while unscrewing the screw to place the protector on. Whole process took less than 10 minutes (including photos).

Finally removed the sneeze guard tonight and installed Maffewl‘s protector. Easy to install, looks factory, great quality product. A must have for any POTC owner!

Hey @grindhouse, thanks for the pics and comments. I'm seeing some of the fogginess left behind from the laser cutter around the edges. That should come off with a wet cloth. If you have any issues, please feel free to send me a PM.

William has made a great job with his deflector, it fits perfectly and it is extra easy to install.

Certainly grateful I found this thread. Ordered Maffewl‘s deflector, shipped quickly, packaged perfectly to prevent breaking, took about 20min to install, pretty easy. Gave it a spin tonight and it certainly tamed the air balls and I really enjoyed the game without the sneeze guard. Definitely a must have item for this game.

What a great mod! I ordered Maffewl's PotC Airball Deflector and within a day I was provided a photo of my package as a shipping confirmation. The item arrived quickly and was neatly packaged. Installation took only 15 or 20 minutes and best of all I can see my ship without all the plastic in the way. No more flasher and insert reflections like before either. The game looks way better after installing this mod! Thanks William!

By far one of the easiest and the best mods you can make. Fast shipping and easy install. Visual impact is much greater in person. At first I thought my mint clear shields did not bother me. But now very glad they are gone and my expensive ship is protected.

Just wondering how this mod protects the ship? Is it that the airballs come off the "Pirate" Green targets back to the flippers and can be launched by the flippers in the air to the ship, like a fly ball in baseball? Does the mod keep the ball on the playfield eliminating the chance for the ball to go up instead of along the playfield?

Close... The main cause for airballs is a ricochet from the green targets coming back towards the JACK ramp. It then catches the ball guide and other green target funky with speed which pops it up in the air and back towards the ship and sails. You nailed it that this mod keeps the ball on the playfield and prevents the ball from getting airborne in the first place.

Notice: To all that have sent a message wanting to purchase an airball deflector...
1. Thank you so very much for your interest, I greatly appreciate the support.
