Funny how as a pinball player you start to develop different tastes as time goes on. I used to be all into how cool different toys on a machine are or how it looks but now I could give crap about everything else as long as the game play is challenging, strategic and makes you use skill. It's like growing up all over again... When I first started collecting (child) I got rid of my Shadow and had to go buy another one once I wised up (adult). I also wanted a TOTAN, but that desire sub-sided when I found how relatively easy it was.

That said... I am having a blast with RBION. It was actually a title that I never cared to glance in its direction until I started desiring games that were great players (theme, etc. never screamed at me).... But man, there's so much to like! the modes (especially all the 2-ball multiball modes), an almost impossible (to me, at least) achievement (Atlantis, Frog Frenzy) that really shows you know how to play good pinball once reached. The top-right flipper into the penguin loop or spinner which skips one of the head's modes, the risky but rewarding (and necessary) idol shot, the shrunken head that locks the ball and gives that great light flash once hit, the music in the modes, strategically activating gems columns (like 2x playfield) to supplement scoring strategies...

I could go on, but I just wanted to share my much-better-than-expected experience with the game.

Any titles that you "matured into" as you played more and experienced more machines?

Yeah, RBION seems to get overlooked a lot, but it's actually a great-playing game. Plus, the theme isn't as cookie-cutter as a lot of newer Sterns; it's odd, but kinda cool.

Congo was like that to me; I thought it was dull and unreasonably hard when I first played it. Then I played a beat one on route, saw the appeal, and loved the next nice one I tried.
