Quoted from too-many-pins:Thanks for the kind words! It is my great customers like you that keep me going with this venture / hobby. I spend countless hours each week listening to my wife, son, family & friends telling me I am totally crazy doing all the work I do trying to save machines and machines parts basically for free & for the love of the hobby. Every time I do the math it comes out about the same with me making between $2 and $3 an hour profit doing this and even I wonder why I even bother at times.
I have learned to ignore the haters and just do what I need to do to get machines & parts to the people who appreciate my efforts.
And for those of you tired of hearing my stories you will be happy to know I'll be gone shortly. After 10+ years in the hobby with over 600 machines passing through my hands I have decided to move on to other things. I'll still continue to work through the parts machines selling parts on eBay as I have for years but after Phase 2 of the Virginia deal I am 100% done with buying machines.
This post has served its purpose - I have the list of machines headed to the garage and the order I need to move them in. Once those are gone I'll be done selling machines until I pick up Phase 2 of the Virginia deal sometime over the next few months. Once those are gone I'll basically be done with Pinside and all the hate here.
It's not that people hate on you. Beginning of round 1 you just ruffled a few feathers about the way you decided to make the machines available. You had a machine someone wanted, was willing to pay your price but they felt you were playing cat and mouse after they said "I'll take it" but wasn't able to purchase.
The "this is not a sale thread" and "no shipping" makes some remember the first thread no matter your intentions.
I guess what I mean is if you had just said I have X game, here is the condition, here is the price and had even 2 or 3 pictures all the drama would never had happened. The pictures didn't even have to have them set up and clean.
With that said, good for you helping get machines out and helping with parts from machines that are to far gone. That many machines at once is a monumental task. Everyone understands that for sure.
