I've read some posts regarding this board but have not been able to find a solution that "bullet proofs" the actual problem. Does anyone have a solution that takes care of the overheating issue with the MA-1417 pop bumper resistor board? I can put a new board in but I'd rather not band-aid the problem.

You can try installing 5W wire wound resistors.

That's not a bad idea...I was thinking of the high power resistors I'm used to seeing which are packaged with a built in heat sink (see image).

Has anyone out there done this with success?

Also, is the overall consensus yes or no on LEDs in for the pop bumpers?

That's probably overkill, and they probably wouldn't fit on the board anyway.
