This board was gone over by a tech and i seen it boot in his Meteor when i picked it up . I have my Alltek in my Meteor and the game works fine . The m-200 won't boot in the game but will on the bench .

I have 5.3 at A4J4 pin 16,17 and 14.2 pin 12

Try disconnecting the ribbon cables to the sound board and see if it boots then

I've tried that , no difference

I turn the game on and get 1 flash , led off
i've repine A4J4 and A3J3

#5 3 years ago

that means it's running the software but failing the rom checksum.... maybe the sockets are flaky. What did the tech do to the board when they had it?

#6 3 years ago

I didn't have a board when i got the game so he set up one he had for my meteor .

i saw the game boot in his meteor.

One ball in the trough (not two or zero)?
Slam tilt switch stuck?
Coin door switch issues?

#8 3 years ago

Which led flash does it stop on?

Coin switches have jumpers and cut wires
I'll hook backup like schematics

1 flash

it didn't change anything

1 ball in trough
slam switches are open and diodes are good

I'm getting 5.09 v and 12.00 v at the bench and the board boots

I'm getting 5.35 v and 14.09 v at the machine and won't boot , nothing else plugged in just like on the bench .

The game has new rectifier board and rebuild driver board.

Could the difference in voltage prevent the mpu from booting

Thanks

Unplug all your displays

Had a similar issue years ago

Bad display hooked up refused the game tk boot up

Worth a shot anyways

Forgot about this! Yes. Same here! If it boots with no displays, put them back in one at a time until it doesn't to find the bad one!

Agreed--but make sure to shut the game off before unplugging or plugging in any connectors to the displays!

Fixed
Replaced solenoid driver board with an other and the game boots.

With old SDB 5.35 V & 14.09 V "flicker only"
With different SDB 5.15 V & 13.85 V "boots"
Bench 5.09 V & 12.0 V "boots"

I guess voltage makes a difference .

Thanks

That seems a bit strange, but if it works it works. I'm thinking it may not be a voltage issue at all--but perhaps a problem with one of the connectors on the old SDU. The voltages are close enough that the MPU should boot. Might be worth replacing the 0.100 header pins on the right side of the SDU and give it another shot some time. Might be a good spare!

I'm with you Cowboy. This seems a tad fishy...

Ahh, missed that. Did you replace both the male and female connector pins there?

yes
voltage is actually high with that SDB , it works fine with alltek mpu

It's common for Stern SDBs to output voltage that high.
Flicker on power-up means the EPROMs failed checksum. This is becoming common with EPROMs not written properly (deeply) that cause bit errors at different 5V levels when programmed cells are borderline.
