This is in reference to a WPT I'm shopping out. Got the mouse trap off and took it apart (this is the "jail bars assembly that holds the ball for the Ace in a Hole), the existing one is just about literally dripping in oil / grease / something (the little coil the releases the bars was literally wet).

My question: I know the in general parts in a pinball machine don't require lubrication, but for the most part I've just done spinners, bumpers, and a drop target or two. So 1) do I need to use lubrication on the the mouse trap, and if so 2) what kind would be used? I don't see any recommendations in the manual.

Thanks in advance!

It probably requires NO lubrication.. previous owner couldn't fix it correctly and decided to "lube up".
Clean the grease off and go from there imo.

My rule of thumb, if it is metal on metal a drop or two of light machine oil (10 weight/sewing machine oil). If it is metal on plastic or nylon leave it dry.
