I would consider 40K as low play for an early 60's machine, regardless of manufacturer.
I also might be thinking it "might" be 140K plays?

Another factor that is rarely taken into consideration is whether the machine was configured for 3-ball or 5-ball play.
80,000 plays on 3-ball setting will be approx 40% fewer balls (and less wear) than 80,000 plays on 5-ball setting.
Like others have said, the total play meter reading is not often indicative.
