    Quoted from MadPole:

I wish I could... I have the extra roms and was planning on building the cable, before I realized I have a RottenDog mpu board that doesn't have the necessary port.

It uses the serial connector on the A/V board. MPU shouldn't matter.

    Quoted from pinhacker71:

Will there be vendors with shakers, mirror blades, rubbers etc?

Marco will have a display with some of that stuff. A few other vendors may have small selections of items. But no "pinball parts" vendors will be at LAX.

Reposting what we posted on Facebook last week. No further updates at this time, but we're still in contact with management daily and trying to work to a resolution.

    Facebook post:
We would like to update all our guests on what we know about the recent fire at the host Ramada hotel.

First, the SHOW IS ON SCHEDULE AND WILL GO ON AS PLANNED! The Triple Crown Convention Center is separate from the hotel and was completely unaffected.

For those with reservations at the Ramada for the dates of LAX 2019, we're in contact with the hotel management and as soon as we know something further we'll update you on options. The likely outcome is the hotel will be repaired, certified and reopened, but we're working on other arrangements should that not be the case. There are other properties nearby that have vacancies and so forth.

Please PM if you have any questions or concerns and we'll do our best to answer and assist. Hotel management is advising us and our guests to hold off on any big changes the next few days as they work through this. We will be communicating with them daily and will update here as soon as we know more.

If anyone booked in the Ramada has also pre-purchased tickets and would like a refund, please let us know.

    Further information for the curious:
The hotel was recently purchased by new owners and they decided to do a massive upgrade. The rear 2/3 of the building was closed, and will be demolished later this year. The front 1/3 of the building is being renovated with all new rooms and should be completed by the start of LAX 2019.

On Tuesday morning a fire broke out in the unoccupied rear 2/3 of the building that isn't being used. No damage occurred to the front 1/3. There were no injuries. The fire marshal has closed the building pending investigation and re-certification of the fire alarm system. Management and local officials are working diligently towards getting the building reopened.

No further on the Ramada. I'm going to guess that it will not re-open in time for the show.

Best Western up the street has kings, king suites and double suites. Doubles are sold out.
    https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/book/louisville/hotel-rooms/best-western-louisville-east/propertyCode.18103.html

The Marriot next door has both kings and doubles available.
    https://www.marriott.com/hotels/maps/travel/sdfls-louisville-marriott-east/

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I'll do my best to find an answer!

    #113 5 years ago

I have been in communication with the management company and will have an update later this afternoon.

    A couple notes:
    - This is a franchise location, so corporate's response is often - contact the local facility. Of course the facility has no power so that proves difficult.
    - Corporate support apparently does not have a consistent story to tell customers that the facility is currently closed pending the fire investigation. The "opening in Summer" is for the remodel, not the instance of the fire. I brought up the concerns that corporate support is telling different people different things.
    - The management company assured me no one will be charged for any reservation. Debit card holders may need to have the funds released so we're working on a plan to either bulk cancel all block reservations ASAP or some other process.
    - I'm doing my best to get this resolved by tomorrow. I understand the stress and confusion, believe me.

    Quoted from LOTR_breath:

Since there is no Stern Circuit event this year, why no other tourney in it's place?

I enjoy tournament play as well and would love to have my cake and eat it too, but we had to make some choices this year. There are pros and cons to a tournament during the show.

For instance, years ago LAX was a major stop for several circuits, and there were far fewer shows. Now there is a show every other weekend and plenty of tournaments to go around.

I could list dozens of reasons both why and why not...

I'm sorry some people won't be coming to LAX2019 due to no tournament, I'll miss seeing you. Hopefully we can visit at the next show or tournament and catch up!

    Quoted from WeirPinball:

I jumped on Priceline and got the Hilton Garden Inn Louisville East for $67/night. 8 minutes away if you can drive

The Garden Inn is a great choice. Right off i64 and still in Jtown!

    #134 5 years ago

The Best Western and Marriott are closer than they are reported. Google Maps gives the front door to front door distance to the Ramada. The Marriott's back door opens right next to the Triple Crown Pavilion.

    Quoted from winteriscoming:

I didn't get to come until a couple hours before close on Sunday.
Maybe consider discounting tickets during that time?
It wasn't fun having to dodge (and keep my daughter from getting run over by) all the people taking games out early.

Sunday is already a discounted ticket due to it being the last day and shorter hours. We still try to give a good value and I think most would agree that Sunday's game count was way higher than previous years.

We strongly ask all collectors to leave their games at the show until it closes, however the snow storm was making this tough for some. They had 6+ hour drives ahead of them, in the weather and needed to leave earlier than they had planned too. We try to be reasonable while still having 90%+ of the games available that Friday had.

Please reach out to me if you'd like to make suggestions, we'd love to hear them!

    #238 5 years ago
    Quoted from goingincirclez:

I've always used the LAX pins as "honor badges" for the games I take, but this year's included that cool card that struck me a little differently. With a little trimming, it works great![quoted image]

Any collector that brought games that didn't get their pin, I'm so sorry! I wasn't ready to hand them out until it was too late. So please, if you didn't get yours let me know via PM and I'll either mail you yours or get it to you the next time I see you at a show or event.

    Thanks!
