Um. We need the NBA fastbreak owners to work together and link them up! Let’s make it happen people!

    Uhh... yeah!

    #52 5 years ago

    Polybius? Intriguing.

    #53 5 years ago

Awesome. Is this taking place of the tourney? Who's doing the recruiting?

    Quoted from chuckwurt:

Um. We need the NBA fastbreak owners to work together and link them up! Let’s make it happen people!

I wish I could... I have the extra roms and was planning on building the cable, before I realized I have a RottenDog mpu board that doesn't have the necessary port.

    Quoted from MadPole:

It uses the serial connector on the A/V board. MPU shouldn't matter.

My fault... A/V board, not MPU.
TurboBengal and I were planning on bringing our last year and connecting them.

A stock A/V board is waaaay bigger bucks than I would want to spend on NBA Fastbreak to link up once a year.

    #57 5 years ago

Bummer! Maybe someone will see this and be able to help out with an OG A/V board.

    #58 5 years ago

    Post it

What exactly are linked NBAF's supposed to provide?

I mean "player versus player" scoring seems like a fun idea... but if one player drains 3-and-out while the other player is still rocking ball one, then what's the point? You could just as easily compare final scores. You obviously can't send a physical ball from one machine to the other. Nor battle the same ball(s) head-to-head, like a Joust or Flipper Football cab.

Is the play mode / code completely re-invented when linked?

    #60 5 years ago

When linked they will actually bond together and transform into “Robo-Jordan”... and then you can compete against robo-jordan on a real basketball court to see who really is the best basketball player in the world!

Careful not to foul robo-jordan too much or you will “tilt” him... and then the game is over.

That would be cool even if it was just a loaner / swap for the weekend.

    Just awesome T!!

    #65 5 years ago

That sounds so cool about linking two NBAF games. I'm still sort of a newbie here so I didn't know those games would connect; very cool and would be a neat feature at the show. Heck, I'm bringing a HS2 and would think it would be cool just having the other HS close by.

Nice to see the list so far.

Will there be a CIRQUS VOLTAIRE there?

    Quoted from Aflacjack:

Will there be a CIRQUS VOLTAIRE there?

I thought about taking mine but it sent me a message or two at Pincinnati that it does not want to be a show game so hopefully someone else fills that void.

Funny you say that bob, at the Pincinnati show it kept whispering to me “Take me home Zach, I belong to you, precious.”

    #82 5 years ago

That Cirqus Voltaire at Pincinnati was awesome! Loved playing it. Thanks for bringing; first time seeing and playing one in person.

Heard good stuff and the concept seems pretty cool!

    Quoted from pinhacker71:

Marco will have a display with some of that stuff. A few other vendors may have small selections of items. But no "pinball parts" vendors will be at LAX.

    #92 5 years ago

I'll be at LAX and I'm looking to buy a 90's era dmd soon. If anyone is bringing anything to sell, I very well may be interested if it's at the right price. I'm not trying to travel across states to buy something and this is in my backyard. PM me!

    #93 5 years ago

I have quite a few parts I can bring- I'll build a list shortly

Reposting what we posted on Facebook last week. No further updates at this time, but we're still in contact with management daily and trying to work to a resolution.

    Facebook post:
We would like to update all our guests on what we know about the recent fire at the host Ramada hotel.

First, the SHOW IS ON SCHEDULE AND WILL GO ON AS PLANNED! The Triple Crown Convention Center is separate from the hotel and was completely unaffected.

For those with reservations at the Ramada for the dates of LAX 2019, we're in contact with the hotel management and as soon as we know something further we'll update you on options. The likely outcome is the hotel will be repaired, certified and reopened, but we're working on other arrangements should that not be the case. There are other properties nearby that have vacancies and so forth.

Please PM if you have any questions or concerns and we'll do our best to answer and assist. Hotel management is advising us and our guests to hold off on any big changes the next few days as they work through this. We will be communicating with them daily and will update here as soon as we know more.

If anyone booked in the Ramada has also pre-purchased tickets and would like a refund, please let us know.

    Further information for the curious:
The hotel was recently purchased by new owners and they decided to do a massive upgrade. The rear 2/3 of the building was closed, and will be demolished later this year. The front 1/3 of the building is being renovated with all new rooms and should be completed by the start of LAX 2019.

On Tuesday morning a fire broke out in the unoccupied rear 2/3 of the building that isn't being used. No damage occurred to the front 1/3. There were no injuries. The fire marshal has closed the building pending investigation and re-certification of the fire alarm system. Management and local officials are working diligently towards getting the building reopened.
