The motor in the back box of my hurricane pinball That spins the big disc is super loud... short of replacing it would w/d 40 or some other sort of lubricant help?

Dont use that, use some alcohol based cleaning spray for cleaning. What kind of bearings does it have? is it nylon or brass bearings?

Nylon: use lithium based grease.
Brass: ordinary motor oil. just one drop is enough.

NEVER use WD40 its an enemy to pinball machines.

WD 40 is a dust magnet. Good for cleaning and squeaky door hinges. That's about it.

I figured wd 40 was a no no, glad I asked. I will check out the bearings dude and act accordingly.

Quoted from TheDude:

Nylon: use lithium based grease.
Brass: ordinary motor oil. just one drop is enough.

+1 Or 3 in 1 oil for brass fittings.

WD40 is bad... WD stands for Water Displacement fromula 40. Great to clean or loosen things. Lousy for long lasting lubrication. As stated above by the dude... Lithium grease for Nylon. 3 in 1 oil is best for brass.

One drop my make it run for 25 years, worst case you replace the motor or listen to it.
