Got a LOTR (2003) with the shaker kit installed. Has the correct LOTR LE chips (ROM, PAL, Display). Noticed the shaker wasn't shaking so inspected and saw that the drive wire(BRN/GRY) was out of the connector on the driver board. All the other wiring is as per the install instructions and secure, nothing loose. The only difference I saw was the shaker board ground wire is soldered directly to the grounding strap instead of being connected to the driverboard. Ground is ground so it shouldn't matter.
Anyway put the BRN/GRY wire back in and I got shake!....... but....
Game reboots about 75% of the time the shaker goes, whether in coil test (#12) or game play. WTH??? I guess now I know why the wire was pulled out...
There is nothing linked to the logic +5V in this setup. Why would the game restart? I'm pretty adept at troubleshooting and pin repair. Before I get too involved and spend a lot of time fixing this I was wondering if anyone else had similar issues.
BTW the RED/WHT wire that should be providing 14.8VAC to the shaker board only reads 8.4 VAC(same with VDC) when measured against GND.
EDIT: Just tested the shaker motor and it comes up as shorted throughout much of it's rotation. Gonna take it apart.
