LOTR settings

My latest addition to my ever extending (currently 14!) lineup is a beautiful LOTR. Its a truly gorgeous game, I love the flow of it and I think it utilizes the theme extremely well. One question, what settings do you play the game on, or what are the recommended settings for home use? The guy i bought the machine off had everything set to super easy and I managed to destroy the ring twice and get 5 gifts of the elves within my first game! It was fantastic fun, but just way to easy. Since I have got it home I have changed all the settings to hard with no extra balls and I have destroyed the ring a couple of times with a max score of about 70-80 million in a week or so. Just wondering what your recommendations/experiences are?

Thanks

I have to check to see what the defaults are because those are my settings. I have it on 3 balls and don't find this game anywhere near as easy as many have claimed.

Yeah im not finding it at all easy now, I have put some serious game time into it in the past week and its brutal, especially the outlanes! Great game, think its going to be around for a while

I have moments when I loathe it and want to sell it. Then I have a run of good games and thank God that I wasn't fool enough to let it go.

YET.

How in the world do you detroy the ring multiple times and only score 80 million?
I typically score around 40 to 50 million just getting to the destroy the ring mode.
Also, make sure your slope is 6.5 degrees. You may just be a really good player since you are destroying the ring with ease, but your score does not show that for some odd reason.

Why don't you start by going into the menu and resetting the gameplay settings to default/factory settings. That may help. If that turns out to to be too hard then you can adjust the various settings individually to get a happy balance. I personally like to occasionally be rewarded with an extra ball for my accomplishments, especially since it is home use and not replay at a bar. Also, put the game on 3-ball play, not 5-ball.

3 ball, directors cut - no rubber on the outlane posts. The games can be long, but you already knew that before purchasing a LOTR, right? If you want to get to Valinor, disabling extra balls is a bad idea, although if you make it there without any EBs you would pretty much be a pinball legend.

I meant that I have only managed to destroy the ring a couple of times in separate games, not multiple times in the same game since changing all the settings to hard with no extra balls and a 3 ball game. The game I had when the settings were very easy I did destroy the ring twice in the same game and managed about 160 million, in 3 ball play but with extras still on. I actually have the game at about 7.5 degrees too.

In factory settings is everything set to moderate?

If you have a manual it should have a breakdown of what changes those settings make.

Oh yes i knew that, I have loved the game and the long ball times for a number of years, its a full body work out! Directors cut, cool, i'll take a look

I have a theory that the outlanes are not much of a factor when you set the angle much steeper than 6.5 degrees. It reduces the side-to-side action because of the greater affect gravity has when you set it steep so you are eliminating a lot of side drains (by making it steep). My biggest loss of scoring and ball is on the side drains at 6.5 degrees. The slingshots are constantly throwing the balls side drain, and the balls coming from the right orbit lane sometimes come so slow that they hit the top of the slingshot or get the slingshot.
