So after some investigation I have a burnt trace on the i/o board coming out of transistor Q5.

Is this repairable? Or must I replace the board? Either way, what could have caused this?

Recap: right VUK coil burnt, along with the wires coming out of it, and obviously the trace.

Any advice is appreciated.

Could be the transistor is blown, or the traces on the board could be melted/damaged.

Never tested a transistor before. I'll research that.

And tips on checking the board? If so, would it have to be replaced?

Update: so I removed all the connectors and pulled the i/o driver board and indeed there is a burnt trace coming out of transistor Q5.

Can a trace be repaired or do I need to replace the whole board? If so, any pointers on what could have caused this so that I can prevent a recurrence?

Replace the transistor and jump the trace with a wire.

Yup - a jumper wire will do nicely.

I would guess the most likely cause of trace damage would be the fuse was a higher value than it was supposed to be.
You likely can jumper the burned trace and also likely need a new transistor since the existing transistor is probably shorted.

Thanks for the input guys. Will attempt to jump the trace.
