I have a lord of the rings and the sound is so loud.

I have checked all the forums and followed all the suggestions although it is still loud.

To date
Replaced U26 and U30 (have tried 3 different U26 IC's from different suppliers)
Sound OS8 is installed
R106 and R110 are correct resistance and measure correctly
Sound roms are seated correctly

I am not sure what I am missing or where to go from here, any suggestions.

Can you turn the volume up and down? What happens?

Do you have the right gameOS to match the Sound OS?

Is the volume controlled on the coin door buttons? Or is it in menu?
I don't own LOTR but pretty sure volume is controlled with red and green buttons on coin door. Left side of pic.

I kind of assume that if the op is sophisticated enough to replace IC's and seat sound ROM's, that he is capable of finding the SAM volume controls on the coin door! If that's not the case, this will be a first

There is a min volume setting in the menu I think. Maybe that is set high?

LOTR has an adjustment for “volume effects” or something like that.
It is how much the game will turn itself up when you are in multiball, modes, Gifts, etc.
When you have things stacked, it can raise the volume significantly.
It can be turned off in adjustments, if that is the issue.

Related to this, you could restore all factory defaults if you're trying to rule any settings out.

The effects are default ON, but I would do a reset, then Turn to OFF.

Has service bulletin 133 been done? Those two specifically need to be changed from what the manual says. SB doesn't mention LOTR, but I'm guessing this is your issue.
