Normally when you shoot the ring during gameplay, the magnet goes into full suck mode when you hit the spinner.
During DTR mode it does not do that, it just maintains a barebones pulse to hold the ball there, or when no ball there during DTR mode no magnet help at all.
So if your issue is ONLY during DTR mode, that might be why. The other issue some have reported is related to your coils getting hot from use and then weaker as gameplay goes on. This has not happened to me but that could be purely from my playstyle versus my machine not actually having that problem. To me the coil upgrade is more valid for the latter issue.
