Hey all,

Have a lotr with flippers that stop working for brief amounts of time and then work again. Maybe two, three seconds, and they both stop at the same time. Any ideas on where to start Pinside? This happened just now when I booted it up to play, not after an extended game.

Edited because of this stupid tiny keyboard on this phone.

id try the easy stuff first like inspecting the eos switches and flipper switches in the cabinet.

I don't think there is anything in end of stroke that can cause this on white star solid state flippers. But perhaps some loose wires in the chain either to the coils (power wire) or the common wire between the two for the flipper buttons. These are daisy chained from switch to switch or coil to coil. If the link between the coil and whatever comes before it is weak or cold solder etc, it could cause these symptoms I suppose.

Just to clarify -- they both stop working together every time, it's never just one or the other?

This happened on my lotr after I rebuilt one of the flippers. I ended up using some 400 grit sandpaper to clean the eos switch. Both have worked like a chance ever since without issue.

Played it some more and realized that all the coils would stop firing, reseated / tightened up the fuse holder. It looks like all the problems are magically gone -- but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I'm so used to it not being 'just a fuse' that I basically wrote it off the list immediately.
