I recently was having issues with my balrog not working correctly, so I went through it all and decided it was just time to replace everything associated with it. I replaced the coupler and the motor. Once I put it back together, the issue is still there. It will not open and close properly, and seems to want to go in a 360 once it closes the lane up. I thought maybe it was the switches, but they seem to be fine. Now I am coming aware of thing called the relay board, which I had no idea what that was before. I went into the test coil menu, and selected to run the balrog relay motor, #20. Balrog didnt do anything, and not sure if he is supposed to or not. Could thje relay board have gone bad, and how do I check this? When i ran the test, i heard some sounds coming from the board, but now I dont hear anything. Is there a fuse that controls this? Thanks so much for all the help. I just dumped almost 200 bucks in the motor and coupler, and still not working. I have a DMM, but not real sure how to use it, so be kind. Thanks

Also the mechanism does go back and forth at times, just seems to keep wanting to go in 360 at certain times then ends up closing the lane when it should be open.

So reading up it may be some of the joints perhaps on the relay board. A picture below shows this board, but I dont have enough experience to know if they are cracked or not. I dont want to risk damaging the board since it appears they dont make them anymore. 20150510_021535651_iOS.jpg20150510_021535651_iOS.jpg

I had the same problem. Try this. Put the playfield up and put it in test mode. Try flexing the relay slightly left on right on the relay board. On mine it clearly started working when I did this. Other people have had the same situation. For me I was flexing and trying to figure out what to do next when the relay gave a little. I knew I had either broke the relay or fixed it. Turns out it fixed the problem ( hurray)!

You are a life saver!!!!!!! I pushed it foward, worked! Until I can get some solder on it I just wedged a toothpick behind it to see it works and all is good for now. Thanks again!!!!

I found the solution on Pinside to begin with. I am sure it can be found in old threads.

A friend of mine reflowed the solder points on the board and ours works fine now... Hope you get yours working perfect again.
