OK I can see that. How would you hold the screw underneath? There is very little room.

Put a philips bit in a 1/4" socket to hold it beneath and you should be good to tighten the nut from the top:

Roadtrip planned tomorrow to pick up a project Jurassic lost world.

Has issues with the snagger, a front part egg which is broken but glued and the cabinet has been scratched.

Price is right however so if that’s it i have something to do coming weeks

Besides the snagger, anything else to be aware of besides the usual general stuff like leaked batteries, broken ramps-plastics, etc?

Am already getting somewhere

However, how is the locking supposed to work. Am assuming that you hit the drop target several times, lock lots, hit a loop, magnet grabs ball, moves it down inner loop, magnet grabs it again and the snagger does its thing.

However, as the drop target each time returns to up position the snagger mechanism doesn’t work and magnet releases the ball. If I manually hit the drop target down when the ball is grabbed by magnet drop target stays down and snagger does it’s job.

In switch test mode the droptarhet works fine. Firmware is release 101, will need to update anyway.

Am I missing something here? Should something else also be active for the droptarget to stay down or ...?

Is the snagger disabled in the menu?

#357 4 years ago

Is enabled but find the error.

The drop target is suppose to go down I discovered and didn’t. Wire broke loose from that coil so easy fix

Anyone have a design for a special apron card ?

Or a file for the droptarget decal ?

I can post the apron card I made but there is some just posted here: post 393

I also could use a drop target decal.

Did you flame polish your ramps, they look amazing in the latest picture. I've been wanting to do mine but have been hesitant. I recently applied the drop target decal from a NOS set. I might be able to scan it, with it still on the target.

They were so clean I didn’t attempt a flame polish. Just not worth the risk. And yes, they cleaned up very nicely ik the bath tub. Attached a for and after picture. I leave it to you to decide which one is for and after

If you could make a scan this would be great

Suddenly the droptarget always stays down. In test mode works fine, switch also registers but as soon as I start a game the drop target goes down.

Anyone an idea?

#365 4 years ago

Found it. The home switch was not registered so the pinball thought snagger was down so droptarget was moved to down position

#366 4 years ago

I've joined the club. I brought home a TLW that is in very good condition but not able to start a game. It boots and goes into attract mode but it's missing the Service Set Switches on the coin door. I have one ordered and I'm looking forward to getting in to the diagnostics. Updates to come.

I'm missing the gate at the end of the shooter lane. I have the bracket that it mounts to. Is this the gate that I need (pic below)? Can someone please take a pic of that area so I can fabricate it correctly? Thanks!

Just getting started with mine. It’s non working fresh out of a local pizza shop.
It has blown fuses at F-21, 50v Coils and F-22, Controlled Lamps. Time to find out why they blew.
I also have several molex connectors that are without a match and a couple taped wires in the cabinet. Can anyone identify any of these?

Fuses 21 and 22 replaced and everything is working except the drop target and snagger. The snagger operated when the game was turned on the first few times and now nothing. The drop target went up and down several times as well but stays down now. The coil for the drop target will energize in test but the target acts stuck. The snagger coils do not energize in test.
I’m going to check into the drop target tomorrow. If anyone has had a similar issue that they may have a solution for I’d be happy for guidance.

#371 4 years ago

I took out the drop target assembly and found that a diode on the switch had come loose. After resoldering the drop target is now fully operational and the snagger is extending, picking up the ball and lifting it 80% to the hole before releasing it. It’s time for an adjustment.

#372 4 years ago

The portal snagger test makes it easy to adjust the snagger travel. Easy may be an over statement but after the better part of an hour tweaking, it is working 100%.
We are looking forward to playing and getting to know this game!!

Hi guys.

I am trying to help a friend with his JPLW. Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction regarding some snagger issues. I cannot enter snagger test in the diagnostic menu; when I press the coin door button to enter the test, it beeps but does not actually enter the test and stays at the coil test menu. The snagger doesn't work during gameplay, nor does the drop target. The target does not reset itself, but the reset coil works properly in coil test, as does the drop target switch. The snagger motor and gearbox do work (tested with another power supply) and the optos on the control board also register as they should. I have looked at a couple of snagger threads but they seem to relate to slightly different issues.

Anyone got any advice?

It’s probably the microswitch on the drop target.

Is the snagger turned off in the menu?
If I remember right it won't test if its turned off.

It's definitely turned on.

I think start super basic.

Check to see if all of your Roms are up to date. Once the software is confirmed or fixed, then there are snagger schematics and tests. Also make sure when your coin door is open, you pull the button so high voltage can be on. Otherwise you won’t have high voltage for coils.

I had a problem like this on a BW machine (the gettaway).
One set of options was missing entirely in the menus.
Pulled the battered and it reappeared ????

Seasons Greetings and Merry Holidays, LWJP fans. I'm continuing to work through my container project pin and am looking for a few decals - one for the left ramp (curled while flame polishing) and the two on the drop target. Does anyone have these left from a full set that I could grab? BTW, the replacement egg project is not dead and I hope to get to it the first part of next year.

Does the bottom of the front sticker really just hang down off of it?

That’s the drop target right? It shouldn’t. The drop target should be a rectangle iirc, and the one pictured looks square

The drop target that came with my machine was like that, I ordered a new one and it was the same.

I just pulled the manual up, ya it’s a roll over drop target and the face is square. Weird, I suppose it’s supposed to be like that then. I sold my lwjp a couple years ago, so I can’t visually verify.

#389 4 years ago

Decal complete. Thanks a lot Darscot for the scans.

I May have the chance to pick one of these up soon for a fair price, but I’m curious to hear from those who own it, if it’s a pin that casual players and kids enjoy? Or is it a bit too hard and low scoring to keep them entertained?

It can be hard for sure but in the home environment does hard really matter you just keep pushing start. As to scoring don’t expect billions or even hundreds of millions but again it’s all relative 15 million would be a great game. The Snagger is pretty neat I think it would keep the kids entertained. It is a bargain priced DMD for a reason though. It has a decent number of modes and they are easy to get started and easy to understand but hard to complete.

I agree, it is fun to get the snagger and kids would get a kick out of it. Modes aren’t hard but you may have to explain them.

As my buddy said, it is a shooters game. Modes are not stackable so you need to be good at aiming and making shots to progress.

Not to clog the thread up with another question, but how hard is multiball to achieve / how often does it come around? My 7 year old son isn't too worried about modes, but does enjoy a pin more if he can achieve multiball every few games or so. As far as the theme and playfield "toys", he really likes the look of it.

The two ball Mobile Labs is pretty easy as long as you understand how to move the lane lights with the flippers. Light all four lanes then one lane will flash trigger than for Mobile Labs.

The main multiball is pretty easy as well, because it has a similar mechanic to Jurassic Park. The first time you shoot the egg you get a smart missile. By the third ball your going to be close so to multiball and you can just hit the smart missile and it will award it.

As long as you not just flailing on the flippers and have a basic understanding you should be getting a multiball most games.

Thank-you for the info. My son is pretty good at understanding and remembering the basics of each pin, so it sounds like he would be able to achieve multiball once in a while. Thanks again

Hey The Lost World Jurassic Park fans. I'm continuing to work through this container game and have now run into fuse F20 blowing when the Snagger PF magnet engages. The coil measures about 3 ohms (Marcos lists it as 4.3 ohms), and the diode attached to fuse for the magnet under the PF tests fine. I've been to Pinwiki for how to test MOSFET Q14 for the magnet but I'm not sure how to use this to determine if Q14 is bad or not. Can anyone provide some clarity on how to figure out what is going wrong to blow fuse F20 when Q14 fires for the magnet?

Added over 4 years ago:

The fuse doesn't blow with J9 disconnected, so maybe it's a bad magnet or coil? How likely is that?

Magnet Fuses - If you run the snagger playfield magnet or orbit magnet test more than 3 or 4 times in a row does either your local 3A slow blow magnet fuse or driver board F20 3A slow blow fuse (covers both magnets) blow? Seems like it shouldn't blow ever unless there is an issue. The diodes at the magnet fuses test good and the magnet coils test good (4.5 - 4.5 ohms). Seems like the fuse value is low, similar to the ring magnet in Lord of the Rings that needs a 5A fuse instead of the 4A. I'm thinking of putting 4A fuses in all three locations. Thoughts?
