The drop target coil does not trigger in any tests. The snagger test does nothing in test. The target reset coil works in test.

Here was one of my snagger issue starts

I had one switch with a wire that came off the switch leg.

Page 2 is snagger info and procedures.
There is a couple snagger tests, and coil tests in the menu. So in the coil test(s), can you drop and raise the drop target?
Here is a funny thing, even though the drop target coil and snagger don’t work in any tests or during the game, they world when the machine cycles to look for a missing ball.
Any ideas?
Quoted from northvibe:When the coin door is open, did you pull out the high voltage button thing?
Yes, and I tested most of the other flashers and coils to be sure they were working. Everything else worked.
Quoted from northvibe:What does the manual say the fuse 21 does/is for?
Edit:
Wow sega was real specific: coils
Hahah ok. Mmm here is the fuse list and it says it is for 50v coils but there is another fuse for flippers, so it narrows it down a little more as well.
You’ll want to check visually and physically to make sure wires at the 50v coils listed are soldered. Also check wires and the wire harness at the location where the head meets the cabinet. Even with the protective plastic many times the wire loom gets caught and pinched, this breaking a wire internally.
You could also try after visual inspection, replace the fuse, have the coin door open, go into test (have the safety switch off so high power isn’t on,) see if any coils or tests blow the fuse. Then enable to high power coils by pulling that switch out. And see if it won’t blow until you can test each single coil
So here is what happened, There was a short in the right slingshot, a blown diode on the egg scoop coil and the transistor for the scoop. Chasing down 3 problems instead of just 1 meant trashing one of the replacement transistors and 5 fuses. But it's now up and running.
Hello, I'm new to this site (and owning a pin altogether ) so if I'm posting this in the wrong place let me know and I'll move it. I purchased a JPLW this past weekend and it plays great, but when I turn the snagger off I get a strange error during the Mobile Lab mode where the multi balls never end, even if I complete the mode. This is happening at factory default settings. Funny thing is, when snagger moder is enabled, the mode plays fine. Below is a video of the issue.Has anyone else come across this?

I had a odd issue, similar, not sure if it was mode based, but balls would just keep launching. I ended up shipping my boards out for repair, to coin op cauldron, when they got back the game acted fine. So maybe not same issue but could be a board thing. Or see if the switches are reading correctly on the drain and ball trough.
I just got one of these a few months ago. It's also my first pin, so super excited to have it in the house and have enjoyed doing some minor repair on it and replacing all of the bulbs with LEDs. The machine is pretty challenging, and I was lucky that everything seems to be working well right now (also have a complete egg). Overall it feels like it's a good starter pin for me.
Does anybody know a good place to print custom play cards/instructions for this one? I've found a few online, but the sizing was off and didn't look so great.
Just joined the club. This game will be my first project pin so wish me luck. I'm going to end up reading this entire thread looking for advice.

I absolutely will and thank you for the warm welcome to the club. I fear that I will be in part sourcing mode for quite awhile though so probably won't need any technical help anytime soon.

Hardest part may be one side of the egg.... or ramps or plastics. I hope stern can start having themselves or someone else start making old game parts....
Could someone do me a favor and take a picture of their boards? I need a picture of everything but ultimately I’m looking for the Display Contoller Board 520-5055-00. The manual says that it’s behind the dot matrix display. My game doesn’t have a DMD so I thought that I could use my spare from my TSPP that was left over from a Color DMD conversation but I’m not sure that I have the board that I need.

See video, any help is much appreciated.

Have you worked through the 'Snagger Motor OPTO Board / Micro Switches Adjustment Procedure" in the manual?
Quoted from Gogojohnnyquack:Have you worked through the 'Snagger Motor OPTO Board / Micro Switches Adjustment Procedure" in the manual?
The optos read properly up and down. My issue is the game always drives the grabber up then down. So in test, or in a game, the grabber stops in the down position.

Oh. Could it be as simple as a reversed connector or the motor wired backwards, sending the opposite signals so the snagger is working completely opposite?
Quoted from J-Freeze:Sounds more like the black belt is off a couple teeth.
I'm not seeing how this is a belt issue and maybe I'm not fully understanding the set-up.
I'm lay my snagger flat on the playfield as shown. Next, I loosen the set-screw on the arm connected to the motor and rotate it such that it is interrupting the "down" opto and tighten in place.
The snagger test will then raise my snagger and the drop target resets at about the time the "home" opto is interrupted. Then the snagger continues and tries to go back to the "down" position, but it runs into the drop target.
Snagger (resized).JPGI tried to start over on my snagger issue last night. I removed the drop the belts completely and reset them with the snagger in the down position. This is also where the motor arm is stopped. In the snagger motor test the motor stops and changes direction properly when it hits the microswitches. I completely removed the opto board at first. In the snagger motor test menu, there are buttons for "up" and "down". When starting the snagger is always down, so the DOWN button does nothing. When I try UP, the motor pulses for a split second and as soon as the DOWN microswtich changes state, the motor quickly goes back to the DOWN position. Having never had this game before, should the motor continue to the UP position manually in that test screen? If so, what would cause the motor to reverse and shut off quickly in this test?

Make sure the drop target is functioning correctly in test...it is linked to that snagger, the snagger should not try to go down when that target is up. Check the target switch also.
So, I've installed my new transformer on my project pin but the molex connectors don't match up. It's a reimport, so I think I am supposed to rework them and I have the chart from my owners manual, but could anyone tell me what I need to buy for a connector or possibly have any pictures of theirs that I can use for reference?
Pinball1 (resized).JPGPinball2 (resized).JPGPinball3 (resized).JPGPinball4 (resized).JPGHello all LWJP fans and owners. I have one coming soon that is going to require a lot of work and am hoping someone here can help me out. This machine is missing the front half of the baby T-rex egg and I would like to recreate it. Does anyone have one that they could loan me so that I can make a mold and cast a new one? I would also make extras for anyone else that needs it. I know this is a rare part and I would take great care with it. Is there anyone here that I could borrow one from?
The snagger on this one is completely dismounted so the next project will to rebuild that.

Mine has a couple of cracks, should still be good to make a mold. I also have an almost complete set of decals that I didn't use, I only used the snagger decals out of the set. If you need to make decals or just want them we can figure something out.
I have a slightly cracked egg on a spare playfield that I could donate towards getting replacements made. That way no one would have to take it off their working game.
All I would ask in return would be a copy of the replacement or my parts back when you're done.
IMG_20181207_184946 (resized).jpgIMG_20181017_151411 (resized).jpgIMG_20181017_144012 (resized).jpgThank you Darscot and TheArrrrrcade for your egg-loan offers! I will PM you both to make arrangements. Giving you an egg out of the batch that I make is the least that I can do thank you for helping.
Is there anyone else out there that would like to be on the list for one of these?

Depends if is priced reasonable enough for me. I took the egg completely off because I couldn't find one and I don't really miss it. I guess if I wanted to sell it that would be a negative point.
I have a question about the ROMs on this game. I know on mine, if I disable the Snagger, the game does not play correctly (modes never end, balls keep being saved, etc). I saw a few posts in here about this, but no def conclusions. Was the code not finished, or is there a later ROM where this issue is fixed?
Thanks for any help. My snagger works (at the moment), but I have this game at our non-profit arcade, and I am afraid with the amount of play it gets that the snagger is going to die.

What are your current version(s)?
Could be early code, or another issue that is covered up by snagger stuff?
I will check the version tonite. I guess the best question is, do others have the snagger off and the game plays correctly?

I swear mine did when I had it. I had to disable the snagger when it wasn’t working. But I haven’t owned it in a while.

Any update? Did you receive the egg you needed?
Quoted from Ericc123:Any update? Did you receive the egg you needed?
Yes, I got an egg and a mold kit but haven't got the guts up to try it yet. I'm going to the local model making supply shop this weekend to ask about any tips, tricks, and materials recommendations for something this thin. I want it to be able to last and would like to make it thicker to take ball hits as well as stay attached to the brackets. The project is moving, albeit slowly.

Good luck. It's really great for everyone if you can make it work so thank you for trying.
Who else needs these Snagger gear train parts? I'd like to put together a group order for some rare parts in the Snagger assembly that aren't available at the usual places. The parts are:
Part #530-5478-00 'Pulley - Timing Belt' (item 5a on page 79 of the manual), This is the smaller pulley (2 required) that is connected by the flat toothed black belt:
530-5478-00, Pulley - Timing Belt, $17 each
Part #530-5481-02 'Gear' (item 9 on page 79 of the manual), This is the toothed gear (2 required) on the motor and Snagger assembly that is connected by the 'Timing Chain' belt:
530-5481-02, Gear, $27 each
Part #545-5820-02 'Timing Chain' (item 8 on page 79 of the manual), which is the orange'ish belt that looks like a ladder and connects the toothed pulley on the motor to the Snagger assembly:
545-5820-02, Timing Chain, $30 each
The Gear and Timing Chain are a custom size with a minimum order of 5 and will take about 4 weeks to build. The pulley has a minimum order of 3. I hope to place the order within in a week or so, with the entire order to ship when everything is fabricated. I’ll then ship them out using standard USPS for whatever that costs.
Pulley, $17 each + postage (minimum order of 3 required, I need 2)
Toothed Gear, $27 each + postage (minimum order of 5 required, I need 1)
Timing Chain, $30 each + postage (minimum order of 5 required, I need 1)
Who else needs these parts?
Quoted from J-Freeze:I'd be in for a toothed gear a and timing chain.
Quoted from Pinballlew:I’m in on timing chain
Great! Here is the list so far (2/6/19):
Toothed Gear:
J-Freeze
Timing Chain:
J-Freeze
Pinballlew
Quoted from twitami:I would be in for all of them, better to have spares
Twitami - Do you want one of each or a belt and a pair of each pulley and gear?
Quoted from Darscot:Yeah I'll take all three, better to be safe.
Darscot - Got you down for one of each
