It's a shame this game gets such a bad rep. There are some really cool shots on it and completing all modes to get to Sandiego is really hard to do. Without a doubt a sleeper pin.

Yeah, for sure. I wish the modes stacked, but the lock is cool, shots are hard and it is a fast game. I still have not hit San Diego. Hard for sure.

Hi guys. I have a JP Lost World that all of a sudden won't start. Everything else seems to work except the start button. All the fuses are good and the wiring looks ok too. Has anyone else had this problem? All power LEDs on the power board are lit.

#5 9 years ago

Yeah, mine did that when it was really messed up. Do you have any reboot issues yet? Look at the wires near the snagger, any of them cracked open and the wire showing (grounding out)? Bridge Rectifier 21 is a big issue on these games.

I have this game and love it !!
I have the 3D translite mod!! One interesting thing is that this game does'ntt have its name on Translite. Does anyone know another game like that?

I don't think this pin gets a bad rep - it's just lumped in with all the other Sega's (ie non-B/W's) on the a-list lemmings hate train. Great game, *all* unique shots in the different modes, Jeff Goldblum...what's not to love?

#10 8 years ago

The modes don't stack, is probably the only negative thing I've heard.

#11 8 years ago

Well I joined the club!
Picked one up for peanuts.
Is it just me or is the Gi very low?

Congrats! Welcome.
peanuts?! it is a big shooter game. Mode based, but you cannot carry or stack. Fun game, hard and fast.

The Gi should be pretty bright. Maybe there are some lights out? Theres lights under the ramps and then around the ramps

#13 8 years ago

Glad I stumbled on this post... I just picked up a lwjp and noticed drop target and snagger don't work so this gives me a place to start looking.

#14 8 years ago

Yep,
Looking at that video I have Gi out.
Hopefully I'll get time to look at it later.
Am I missing something when lifting the playfield or is really that bad and not pull forward?

#15 8 years ago

Stretch I have a snagger gearbox for sale if you want it. No motor just the gearbox. Tested working.

#16 8 years ago

Ill see how i make out with mine first and see what the issues are. Thanks

#17 8 years ago

Good luck with it!

I've been fixing mine and digging in. Post up if you need help! I knows there's at least a few on here that had the issue.

From my knowledge, the PF only lifts and clicks straight up. It does not slide forward, that I know of. (unless full removal?)

For sure check bulbs first. used machines ALWAYS have a bulb out if they are incandescent's

#20 8 years ago

So the top left Gi was out due to a loose fuse holder.
Couldn't find a problem with the back right except every bulb was blown! Every single one was silver.
Will replace them when I get a rubber kit.
I also cclean the easy bits. I'll be stripping it down when the rubbers come.

Oh looking good!

I need to run my scanner on JM, you want a high res scan of the baby trex to make a decal?

#22 8 years ago

Yea sure.
I've never done any pf repair do that would be cool.
Thanks

#23 8 years ago

My snagger was running a bit rough. It wasn't hitting the down limit opto.
Striped it all back and sorted it out.
Very simple mech but at the same time a complete bastard to get right. Took me and a friend 3 hours to get it going and maybe 3 atempts to get it right.
Now it's nice and smooth and a little bit faster.
Bastard of a job.

#24 8 years ago

this scanner is bigger than I thought, but pm me, about 80mb. 1200dpi

#25 8 years ago

My down opto seems to be busted. Working intermittently and also giving false closed signals randomly.
Have ordered a new pcb.
Have to say I quite like this game.
I do wish once you finished a mode it became locked.
Or had the option to turn this on

#26 8 years ago

Ah I had a issue like that on waterworld, but a switch...most annoying part is getting to the part

I also wish that worked with the mode. I need to get my board shipped out to coinop so I can play the darn game again.

#27 8 years ago

Hey Urbanledge. When you say you are going to strip the playfield down, do you mean, remove all the ramps and plastics? If so, would you mind snapping a few pics of the playfield? I would like a pic of the bare playfield for reference and Can't seem to find any good ones. In particular, I don't have any good references of the top of the playfield, as the ramps cover most of the pf.

#28 8 years ago

Sorry ed!
I stripped it last night and put it all back together!
6 hours straight.
I didn't strip it back to the bare playfield just all plastics and ramps off.
It came up lovely too.
I did take this pic when I was checking the GI
IMAG0994.jpgIMAG0994.jpg

#29 8 years ago

D'oh! No worries. Thanks for sharing that pic. Looks like it turned out real nice! If it's not too much trouble, would it still be possible to snap a few pics of the upper playfield, even with the ramps? And maybe some close-ups of the toys from various angles, like the egg, the baby t-rex, and the jeep? No worries, if you are not able to. I'm just kind of surprised there aren't as many photos of this table as I thought there would be on the net.

#30 8 years ago

Edzizzle, you want pics just as pics, or do you want HDR pics for vpin version? I don't have an HDR but my friends do.......

#31 8 years ago

Hey Northvibe,

I am requesting these for use with vpin, so HD is preferable, but it does not have to be. I think more importantly for the toys, is to have the pictures at multiple angles, at approximately the same size. Any help is appreciated. Seems like a fun table, which is why I'm surprised there aren't as many resources available for it. I know the DE version gets more love.

#32 8 years ago

I installed a NOS opto board for the snagger.
It's now working better.
It still misses the odd time but i think I might have chosen the wrong balls. The odd time the ball might stick on the back magnet .
just gotta do the stereo sound and remote batteries and this pin is off to live in a friends for a while.

#33 8 years ago

Added the 3rd amp in last night.
very straight forward job .Also remoted located the battery pack.
2014-08-28 20.14.15.jpg2014-08-28 20.14.15.jpg 2014-08-28 21.45.55.jpg2014-08-28 21.45.55.jpg

I dont have any speaker grill so decided to use the blanking plastic bit for the moment or maybe keep it.
Used a CnC to drill 1600 1mm holes in it!
came out nice.
2014-08-29 10.30.13.jpg2014-08-29 10.30.13.jpg

Got to put it all together later and add the knocker.

#34 8 years ago

was the 3rd amp for stereo sound? I just shipped my power driver board off for repair....hopefully the game finally gets fixed!

#35 8 years ago

Yea its for the right channel.
I used this kit.
http://www.pinballcenter.eu/catalog/stereo-update-kit-sega-whitestar-board-p-4777.html?language=english

What was up with your game?

#36 8 years ago

oh sweet kit. mmmmm Wonder if there is a kit from a US company....

Yeah, I have a long documented problem...

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/lwjp-switch-and-coil-issue

I think I figured it out, but we will see what Clive finds at the coin-op Cauldron. I was about to snag a rottendog board to test with, but at @ $250 ish new, and the game has been down for a year....figured I would just send the board out for less than half of that to get fixed.

#37 8 years ago

Hmm I put it all back together and the sound out of the right speaker is really low
I'll have to check my resister values but im sure they are right.
any ways...
are these stock on the DMD ribbons?
2014-08-28 21.58.20.jpg2014-08-28 21.58.20.jpg

#38 8 years ago

Those magnets? I don't have those on mine. But the stock ones are those "ide" ish looking data cables.

#39 8 years ago

No they seem to be there to stop interference or something.
I'll take them off and see what happens.they can slide on the ribbons.

#40 8 years ago

Hey guys I need some help identifing where this goes. My switch row went out, I shipped my board off and Clive was kind enough to give me some pointers. I opened up the game and sure enough found this loose wire.

Does any switch near the snagger double up on this white w/ green?

image-608.jpgimage-608.jpg
#41 8 years ago

I'll have a look for you when I get home.
Gimmy 2 hours

#42 8 years ago

Thanks!

#43 8 years ago

OK had a look and could only find one place near there with a white/green.
As you look at the underside with the playfield up to the right of the subway there is a little tab about 20mm long sticking out of the PF.
IMAG1549.jpgIMAG1549.jpg

Hope thats it!

#44 8 years ago

I want to say it is (from my pic) underneath the snagger....theres a switch up there for the drop target. TOnight...oh I just saw the wire you posted a pic of.... perfect. I'll check mine. at first I couldn't figure out where in the pic the white w/green was hahah. Awesome! I really appreciate it. I'll check mine tonight and then when the board comes...I can test!!!!

#45 8 years ago

Found it. Looks like both were close to coming off the switch leg
