Any alkaline corrosion on the MPU?
Is this a new problem or did the game come to you like this?
This is a tough problem to debug.

You are going to need to send the MPU and driver boards to a pro.
The WhiteStar board set is a great board set, but debugging this kind of problem requires tools and time on a test bench.

So you replaced the RAM chip and now it works. Good.
One could conclude that the RAM chip was at fault.
But, the fault could also have been with the socket or the mating to the socket.
To really indict the RAM, you'd need to put the old RAM in again to see if the problem reappears.
