Didn't see an Lost in Space (LIS) owners club, so starting one with this seed post.

Not a whole lot of us out there, but hope to see some cool mods and provide a place to post game-specific questions and comments.

#2 8 years ago

I'm glad you finally got one!

#3 8 years ago

Me too! Is it up and running yet?

#4 8 years ago

Yeah, the music and robot callouts are great.

It's got some issues with the upper magnets not releasing. I'm trying to figure out it out and put out a tech post on that.

Hyperspace multiball doesn't really work. Sometimes one of the balls will drop down into the VUK, but the rest are just "stuck" on the upper orbit magnet. Same thing with the upper pops magnet. it energizes to "catch" the ball (so it can drop it down into the pop bumpers), but doesn't seem to "de-energize" because the ball just hangs there until you bang the cabinet a bit.

But I'm tracking that down, other than that, it's a great game!

I'm in. It's a multi ball bash fest for sure! Love the sounds, especially hooked to a sub woofer.

You need to replace your balls with magnet safe balls. The residual magnetism in the balls will make them stick to the magnet at the top of the game and on the spinning disk.
Had the same problem with mine after I bought the polished chrome balls.

That was exactly the problem.

Thanks!

Hello
only recently joined this club and whilst looking into a trough problem noticed this 'extra' piece of artwork hiding under the apron!

Hi, does anyone here has the complete book of this machine? i only found partial pdf files online.
we have this machine on my workspace, i play about an half an hour a day

#10 8 years ago

Hi Guys, I'm in the process of getting this machine, it's currently being restored so hopefully will be mine in about three weeks time here in UK.
Looking at Youtube videos of the gameplay I noticed several having problems with magnets so it was interesting to see the post re magnet safe balls, particularly as I was intending to have polished ones but now will keep to using regular balls

I have the original, Lost in Space pinball user manual for this machine which I'm getting ready to list for sale on Pinside. It it in very good to near perfect condition, if interested.

hi
I acquired my machine with some mpu board damage caused by leaking batteries, which affected the RAM and EPROM chips. Having replaced the sockets and re-burnt an EPROM (1.01) from IPDB all works fine. However living in the UK i'm now aware that the reason i can't enable the pop up outlane & centre post save option in the adjustment menu is perhaps because i'm not running the original UK version 1.02
Has any one got a copy of the BIN file?
regards Bob

Joined the club today. Picked a nice fully working example from a private party that had it for almost 15 years. All it needs is a cleaning, rubber and leds.

Anyone know where I can get a decal for the spinning disc my game could use a new one ....

When I did my Lost in Space retheme to a 1965 Lost in Space I was also looking for a new decal since one original was a little beat up. I wasn't able to find a new one so I ended up just making a one from scratch. So far its survived being brought to 3 different shows and is still holding up well. I can probably make another if you aren't able to find one.

Thanks - I have not heard a peep etc. yet. Likely not going to find one - a decal is easy but how does one get texture on it so it grips a little? Does your decal have texture?

I tried a couple different clear laminates that had texture on them. One was a skateboard laminate that was super textured. The one I settled on was meant to go on floor graphics and has more of an orange peel like subtle texture and seems to work well. It still affects the direction of the ball somewhat but not overly so. If you want the exact texture of the original than you should be able to use the twister decal. The image is different but I think the texture is the same as the original lost in space disc. So instead of an orange gas giant planet it would look more like a cosmic black hole type of thing.

Would love to see some pics of the re-theme. Just finished Season 2 of the Netflix reboot and was feeling super nostalgic, so just installed the ColorDMD LED display and was wondering about re-theme options.

I'm seen the first 3 episodes of season 2 of Netflix show and I'm liking it.

I made a couple of changes to the stock sega game: artwork above the WARNING inserts is pretty much unchanged, but artwork below that is a custom overlay featuring B9 robot, replaced movie space monkey image with Jupiter 2, replaced gigantic movie version of Jupiter 2 with 60's Jupiter 2 with lighting and flasher effects, , added space pod toy with lighting effects, added chariot toy with lighting effects, reworked all the plastics in the pops area and added lighting effects, replaced movie robot toy with 60's B9 robot that has interactive lighting effects added, new cabinet and backbox art, new translight art, new art for all the plastics, custom speaker grill mirrors, upgraded speakers for backbox and subwoofer, color changing speaker lights and flipper buttons, 2.4" LCD in apron that plays previews for all the episodes of the series, personalized autograph plate in apron signed by Billy Mumy, custom color shifting metallic armor package, new B9 robot topper with lighting effects.

I ripped a bunch of audio and original music from the show and had a pinsound board installed in it as well but there was an issue with it that caused it to not play all of the callouts consistently so I took it out. The original sound mix isnt bad as its fast paced (like the game) and has the original theme baked into it. Also the vast majority of the callouts were custom done by Dick Tufeld who was the original voice of the Robot from the show. With the upgraded speakers and woofer those callouts sound fantastic.

I also wanted a colorDMD so the only way that was gonna happen is if I did it myself. So I got in touch with Randy at colorDMD and signed up to do the colorization work. Glad to hear you added the colorDMD to your game, I knew that colorDMD wouldnt sell a lot since then game is so rare but it really looks nice once installed.

It was a labor of love but I'd be willing to trade it for a Rick and Morty, any takers?

That is fantastic work...I'm not a LiS pin owner, grew up with the show, landed on this thread looking for ColorDMD info. But while I'm here I just have to say "wow!"...that is an impressive re-theme.

Not sure if anyone follows this one anymore but I picked up a Lost In Space as my first pin a few months ago.

I've been replacing worn out components and touching up aesthetics that were bugging me. The big one I just did was the spinning disc and decal. The previous owner tried fixing the disc by welding it to the hub adapter and it didn't work so well. I had a welder friend try to weld it again and it just warped the disc. I had a new disc cut out, and wamonkey sent me the graphic he used on his machine and I got it cut out with a new decal (that even maintained the original texture.. the graphics guy used some dirtbike decal material).

I'm pretty happy with the pin so far! Rebuilt the flippers, just put new rubbers on, and now i'm waiting on my pop bumper parts and she'll be good to go!

Glad it all worked out - looks great - the spinning disc is the best part of that game so you have to have it look good! Sad that someone just didn't make those parts but your disc now is likely better than new. I miss my LIS for the art and theme for sure. Small house limited space....

Your LIS is in good hands! It’s a great game and I doubt it will leave my collection. I’d sure love to do everything, but I don’t have the time or skill set.

Well, that machine was a rock star not a single issue with it. It also had every mod that needed to be done to it...probably better than new. Glad you are liking it.

FYI - I'm currently making a mod to help with speaker hum/buzz on this generation of boards (Sega / Stern Whitestar). I have a Simpsons Pinball Party, and the hum was bothering me. I ended up finding this pinside discussion (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/tspp-speaker-humbuzz-fixed) which describes how to make the mod and how they work. The first post on that page has a video showing the process. I have them on Simpson's and Ripley's and they help immensely. If you'd like a pair and don't have the time or tools to make them, I will ship a pair to your door for $22. If interested please direct message me as I'm not here often. Thank you

I am a new owner, I like the layout, Callouts, Multiball stars, but the code is kinda unfinished, not a lot to do. Don't know how long I will keep it. In any case,

After not finding any resources for Pinball Cards, manual that is complete etc, I kindly ask you to share if you have any, the one on IPDB is incomplete.

here some cards I had to do, since the one online were not shared by the pretentious MF that wanted 25 dollars to share it with me.
