My pleasure, and thank you for the kind words!
You all supported the crap out of me and now I'm officially on the Design Team at stern!
Thank you all so dang much for the support. Honestly. <3

My drop targets are starting to damage the wood a little bit. I ordered the universal drop target cliffy for front and back. I’ll take pics one I get them and install

Here it is installed. Much better and I also put a spare speaker in my cabinet. I didn’t wire it yet but it instantly made the coils quieter. I’d recommend anyone who wants it to not be as loud to do that. Much nicer now even if I don’t wire it to anything

Yup! Those will work great

I'm having an issue with my T-rex mouth opto registering a successful shot when the mouth opens during game start.

Essentially, if the game opens the T-rex mouth at all, it registers the shot when it shouldn't. With the game on I can just barely open the lower jaw, and it counts the shot.

I assume it's an opto alignment problem, but I'm not sure where to start on disassembling and adjusting in that area. I see there's an opto hole in the lower and upper jaw, but not sure how to access them.

Anybody else experience this issue yet?

Pumped that my distributor has one set aside for me
Bummed that I have Covid and can't go pick it up

Finally got grand champion score. Beat nublar and made it through restore power. First time getting to restore power, so didn’t really know what to do. I guess the timer ran out because balls drained and game reset again. All the lights on the PF are blinking. I thought restoring power to one shot and then sinking it in the trex would score some big points for super jackpot, but maybe I missed something. Also am still using the wide factory outlanes, so feel like I have beat the game and may be ready to move on lol. So if anyone near Austin wants to do a trade, let me know.

Quoted from Venetic:

I plan to pick up one of those cheap lepai amps and a pinnovators pinsub board to provide a line out for the lepai to drive the bottom cab speaker.

Has anyone done this? Is there a switched 120VAC source to plug in an amp, or even a switched 12VDC source to directly drive one of those small amps to power a cabinet speaker?

I think someone said on here that the sound output it mixed mono anyways, so I'm thinking of using a 4 ohm speaker in the cabinet and drive it off the left speaker output, and forgo adding another speaker in the head, adding a sub out, and an amp. Is the cabinet speaker an 8"?

Yes, 8" speaker size. Specifically, the bolt holes are 5 3/8" apart on each side (I assume the same dimensions as any other Stern cab).

Fantastic. Thank you! I think that is the same size as the classic Stern Electronics cabinets, so I might even have one kicking around.

I’m in the club! Lol

I was kinda pumped to see that they threw a bunch of extra stickers in there. The DeadFlip ones were a cool treat.

that may get stern into some legal issues in some markets

After playing for a day, I have to say the sound design is great. Each paddock has it's own music (I didn't realize that until I found that there is a DJ mode). The second I realized that the if you miss the jump on the ramp it plays a car crash sound *mind blown*

Really enjoying this pin.

I doubt it. Jack only mentioned it during a stream. They don't have it written anywhere that it has any value to be exchanged for anything.

Blatantly stolen from Robocop, it does the same thing.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Actually, since Robocop was a Data East, and Gary Stern started Data East Pinball, isn't it more of a call back?

You could look at it that way, the whole ramp setup is clearly lifted from Robocop and the car crash noise is the icing on the cake if you had any doubts. I'm good with it though as it is a fun shot that should be used on a few other titles.

I wonder if its the exact same sound file? They would be awesome.

I made a 'how to' post over on the other thread about adding a cabinet speaker for $20 in the event anyone is looking to do that.

Looks like DeadFlip is going to be able to add Insider Connected acheivements to JDJP and he is looking for suggestions.

Here are some things I would like to see:

Dirty Pool:
Hit the T-Rex shot with all targets up.
I think there is just enough time between T-Rex releasing the ball and the targets going back up to get it back into T-Rex if your timing is perfect and you are extreamly lucky

Number 9:
Hit 9 consecutive shots on a single ramp

Control Freak:
Have all 5 rescue workers lit at the same time

Spin Baby Spin
Increase Spino Hurry Up value 2 times and then collect (is 3 times possible?)

So Close:
Save exactly 24 workers in a game or maybe 25 but you don't start Restore Power

Chaos in 5:
Spell Chaos with out hitting any major shot out of order

Chaotic Hat Trick:
Spell Chaos 3 times in a game

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Is that confirmed?

Quoted from bigguybbr:

Its confirmed that JDJP will get it, though some of the specifics are still unknown. I believe DeadFlip said that it would not need a QR reader and would be 100% software based. Maybe you will just need to add a one of those wifi dongles and can interface with it through the app.

#727 1 year ago

Another achievement idea…

Thread the Needle:
Make the T-Rex shot while only the center target is down.

so other stern games may not need the QR reader down the road?

I believe that Jack hinted that this is how it would be for his pin. If they do this for the home pin it seems plausible that they would offer insider connected via wifi for home users on corner stones as well.

#730 1 year ago
Quoted from Robmars716:

Venetic i had the star wars home pin and you really don't need to add another speaker in the back box. Here is what I did and it sounded just as good as any pin i have heard. Add a 10inch powered subwoofer underneath $100 (Polk psw108 I recommend cheap and effective) on the back of the powered subwoofer there is a line out connection to allow for the signal to go to another speaker. This output I used to wire an 8 inch midrange speaker I placed in the bottom of the cab. So this makes it a 3 speaker system and believe me you wont think you need another 4incer in the cab after this. Cheers love your stream and love this pin.

Can you explain or show how you wired that sub output to add another speaker? I just got everything to copy your setup, thanks.

ICYMI: Made a how to post in the owners thread about how to light T-Rex's mouth. $5 and 30 minutes well spent.

Made it to restore power mode on ball 1 last night, now I just need to actually complete it!

#734 1 year ago
Quoted from Flyfalcons:

Yes, sometimes my scores do not save. I need to send a bug report to Stern about it. Additionally, if the ball gets stuck behind the T-Rex drop targets, a ball search only raises the targets and the ball is not freed. Not sure if they can program the targets to drop, but that would be helpful.

Did we ever get the high score thing nailed down? Mine aren't saving. Loving the Pin though!

I know that Jack and Stern are aware of the issue. I do not know about any resolution yet.

Reading through this I noticed that someone asked about shaker motor compatibility but I don't remember seeing the answer. I have a JP premium on order but have zero idea of when it's coming. Also this might be a better option for me since my wife has gotten into playing and non stop blast up the middle so constantly hitting the jeep would get old quick.

No shaker motor compatibility. This games rules and shots are definitely friendlier to a beginning player. Some people disable the drop targets in front of Trex to make the lock shot even easier for beginners.

Well that kinda sucks about the shaker motor. Hopefully I can find one locally to try out. I refuse to pay flipper prices and getting a premium this year is pretty much out of the question.
