I've broken a few z-connectors lately on my DE machines. I even went to the 2nd page of google and couldn't find anything larger than 6 or 8. Looking for a 15 pin.

Also, tips/tricks/tools on how to remove these without snapping a couple of plastic clips is appreciated.

You can check Great Plains Electronics and search part # MWWS100-2236

The 2 they carry are out stock. Thanks though.

    Anyone else?

Digikey does not carry them, nor do any of the major parts distributors. The type that are used in pinball with the plastic ramps on both sides are special order based on what Ed at Great Plains told me. He orders them factory direct and they have a long lead time.

In a pinch, you can combine a few of smaller size to build up to the number of pins you need. I have a LOT of 2-pin 0.156" pitch laying around, and I will use 3 or 4 of them for prototyping when I'm running low on larger ones. I need to buy a couple hundred myself now, and I'm patiently awaiting GPE getting them.

If you only need one or two, you can sometimes find them at other Pinball resellers for a higher price than GPE. I can't afford the price difference in the quantity I buy.

I've purchased both common gauge sizes from Marco and used 2(with a little work) when I needed a pin count they didn't have.

Just need somebody to ring the bell once in awhile.

I'll see what kind of lead time I can get on these Wednesday. The manufacturer only seems to make these once per year - if I miss out on their stock, I get put onto their 'several months' wait list. The 0.1" Z-connectors tend to be even harder to buy than the 0.156" version.

I finally placed a bunch of these on order when I last posted to this thread. Pancon said August at the earliest. I was told that some little company named "Stern Pinball" seems to be hogging them with an outstanding order for 15K of them.

@g-p-e, any update on when these might be available?

    #11 6 years ago

I have had these on order for a since May. No news at all from them.
They said August for a due date - they have yet to ever meet one of their due dates. So far, they're normally about 2 months behind the due date.

I make my own. get 2 headers, remove the pins from one and slide the empty one over the other. pins are a little shorter but they work perfect.

    #13 6 years ago

Good idea if you only need a couple.
Unfortunately, I need about 200 of them.

    #14 6 years ago

I've been waiting to order these also. I just need a dozen.

    #16 6 years ago

    Hi All,

I have a stash of these that I use for building various things and given that people are in need I've listed them for sale in my pinside store: https://pinside.com/pinball/market/shops/1025-professor-pinball/01218-z-connector-24-pin

I have about 20 that I can offer up. Just to note, I'm listing them for $4, which is more than what GPE sells them. If you can wait, get them from him. I'm making these available for those who cannot wait.

    #17 6 years ago

Well. . . those went quick. I'm out.

Pinball Life has some smaller sized ones; 6-pin, 4-pin, and 2-pin. I also have a bunch of 2-pin ones for half Pinball Life's price:
    http://ledocd.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=27

The bigger ones I have, however, I'm afraid I'm going to greedily hold onto other than including them in my kits. Any projects I do in my own games, I end up using a bunch of 2-pin ones side-by-side.

I did also look into alternatives, but the best I could find was a Taiwanese company that has an MOQ of 10k, wanted $1100 to set up the tooling, and didn't have breakaway versions of them. You'd either have to cut them to length or buy a bunch of different sizes.

They only carry some smaller ones. 2, 4 and 6 pin. The large ones are tough to find.

how hard are these to break? haha whenever I take them apart they seem to crumble in my hand but, I mean a "controlled" break like say I wanted to take a 24 pin and make a 10 pin.

    #33 6 years ago

    Awesome video Mike.

These are back in stock at GPE. Go get 'em!

    #37 6 years ago

Damn! Case of 600 and only 35 left!
    In one day!

    #40 6 years ago

    Damn. To slow.

    #41 6 years ago

Gone. I'll order more on Monday ... hoping they're not sold out for another 9 months.
I may have a few holdbacks (I always reserve a few to cover broken parts or shortages).
Shoot me an email through my website if interested -- www.GreatPlainsElectronics.com

I just noticed the GPE site is showing stock again. I have no idea if this is what's left over after the dust cleared or if he was able to get another order from Pancon. If you need/want some, I wouldn't hesitate.

My hoard should be arriving today.

    #43 6 years ago

    Thanks for the heads up

I got some ordered this time. Can’t wait.

    #44 6 years ago

Yep, got another order of these in yesterday.
