Hey there everybody! I've got a question and I hope this is the correct place to put it.

As a kid I never really played any pinball. The only table I remember playing as a child was a pinball table that had a mansion or some type of building in the center of the field. The part that I hope I'm remembering correctly was that this building in the center would rise and become a second play field as you progressed. For some reason it reminds me of Clue when I think about it, but I don't think it was Who Dunnit. The time frame of me playing this game was mid-90s to the early 2000s. Anybody have a clue what I may be thinking about?

    Quoted from QuarterGrabber:

Sounds like Dr. Who to me.

Was this a popular table in North America? Wound up finding a video on it and the time expander is definitely triggering some sort of flashback. Was there any other tables that used a similar setup to this one?

If not this may be the table my 8 year old self might be remembering. Actually it wouldn't be that far fetched for me to misremember "Who" for "Clue" all these years later.

The time expander actually has three levels it goes up and doctor who was a super popular game, and still is
I can't recall another game with a centre toy that goes up like that but I am no expert either. I'm pretty sure the game from your childhood is doctor who.

Here are a couple good videos.

You could also be thinking of Pin.Bot or Jack.Bot where the visor rises but I don't think so.

Definitely not the Bot games. The only table I can think of that's similar is Fire!, but the building in the center doesn't rise and for the most part doesn't seem to act as a second playfield.

Let us know when you figure out what game it was

And more importantly.. when you pick one up for home

Medieval Madness? It doesn't rise but the castle could be misremembered as a mansion.

Dirty Harry has a couple of buildings, but I don't think they actually do anything.
Indiana Jones (the Stern one) has the Ark on the playfield, which opens and has a tray full of balls come up from underneath to start multiball.

    Addams Family? (Doesn't rise, but definitely a mansion . . .)

    ??????? NOW I am curious!

The rotating head of Bride of PinBot, is the only other moving playfield part that the ball rolls on. That image is certainly not of a Mansion.

My guess would be Doctor Who. The rising platform could be remembered as house shaped. Now I'm not sure how you would forget that "Exterminate, Exterminate" call out from the Dalek.

How About Earthquake, with the rising and falling building Mod?

Surprised no one has said Whodunnit. It has a huge "Clue" vibe. Not really a mansion, but in the center is a drop target set which moves up and down to block the elevator ramps.

    He said it wasn't Whodunnit.

Not a building, but how about X-Files?

Oh thought that was a Stern game.

Re-reading his original post and now I see it. Although, if there is any doubt that it could still be W?D, it's the only game that gives off a huge Clue vibe. Fits the time frame too.

    I think he's f'kin with you guys

At one point doing research I thought it might Who Dunnit, but I distinctly remember a play field rising in the middle. At this point Dr. Who is the closest thing I can find that matches up with that portion of my memory.

You may have put two games together in your mind/memory.

It happens to me all the time with women!

Are you sure you are not thinking of the rising ramp in fire? It seems closest to what you are describing.Screenshot_2015-07-06-23-04-26.png

    Or maybe jokerz?

    #30 5 years ago

Zaccaria Time Machine has a mini PF that rises. No mansion though

He stated it wasn't FIRE! Already, good guess though. If he didn't state that I would have guessed FIRE! Too.

if nothing else maybe he has a great idea for a new game. Stern are you listening?

    #33 5 years ago

Lights Camera Action has a playfield that flips around?

    What about Earthshaker ?

Yeah i realized that, but maybe his memory of the game was mixed with another game or he just thought it was different. My guess...He thought the rising ramp in fire was actually a building.

Its the only game with anything that looks like a mansion and something raises out of the playfield.

    My guess is, its FIRE!

What people remember and reality are two different things.

The only other game maybe is gilligans island. It doesnt raise, but it does spin.
Maybe thinking the volcano was a mansion?

Or maybe secret service. But the building doesnt do anything on it.

And possibly dr who. But as I kid I think most would remember playing the dr who theme. Based on if you watched the show in the 80's-90,s

I actually had no idea Dr. Who was a thing until the last couple of doctors got the show big again. I'm almost certain at this point that it was that Dr. Who machine. Having no idea of the licence, the people in fancy coats and whatnot would have likely been the trigger for why I would have assumed it was related to Clue at all.
