I have a Gottlieb EM that I would like to get ideas on having the play field restored. Various minor areas of paint loss/chips, signs of ball wear, and cracking in the paint.

Are you looking for tips on doing it yourself or advise on who to send it too ?
Repainting the play field is a bit out of my comfort zone. I'ld like to send it to someone reputable.
I sent my Gotlieb TX Sector to HSA Pinball http://www.hsapinball.com/HSA_PINBALL/Home.html
and he did an EXCELLENT JOB!!! I had the "Stage 2" restore done. Here are before and after pics but they don't do it justice as seen in person. http://www.hsapinball.com/HSA_PINBALL/hsa092815txsect.html I would not hesitate to have other plafields done by HSA.

Painting on clear, or not painting on clear. That is the question. Folks have different opinions on this topic and I just want to do this once. Any feedback is appreciated.
Quoted from FrankJ:Paging CaptainNeo...
Neo does great work I hear, but you'll have to be very thought out with an email to him or you wont get much back
Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:kruzman is probably the best known.
You can check with himn but last I checked with him he only clear coats new PFs.

Yep. Got stiffed by too many people and won't take new work. Damn shame, too. I can't imagine somebody being that much of an asshole that they refuse to pay the guy's asking price after he's done all that work.
I wish I couls work with you on this one because I love king of diamonds. I can only do a couple of restorations a year for several reasons. The most positive being, to bring the pf up to my standards takes a lot of time, and it is impossible to know how much and how long. I only consiter it a sucess if you cant tell it has been restored. Someone mentioned painting on top of clear coat. That is one of the things that I do not like. It makes the touch up real obvious, and looks amature to me, but everyone has diffrent standards, so when you find a pf guy who shares yours, stick with him, and definatly pay him when he is done!!!
cheers, r kruzman
