I recently acquired this Grand Lizard and I am wondering if anyone can help me with some info on it. It has a prototype serial number (with an x in it), the original Paul Faris BG, and cabinet artwork unlike any Grand Lizard that I have ever seen. Any info beyond what I can find via ipdb and google is appreciated.

That's cool. Love the cabinet art. If you want to put a price on it let me know.

That cabinet artwork is way cooler than production! Very cool!

Not looking to sell at this time, would like some historical info. I cannot find anything about the cabinet at all

Fantastic find.

Nice! Many in the community would be very grateful if you could scan those plastics! Congrats on an amazing pick up! I love that cab art!

Thank you. I don’t have a scanner, though.....

Neat find. Is it running a System 11 board set? I thought the whole point of ditching the proto backglass was the alphanumerics that came with System 11.

It is running system 11 boards. I have the standard Grand Lizard BG too, and the openings for the displays are in different locations.

I have a GL but never saw a proto like yours before. Perhaps post your query on the GL page on Pinside. A few if the members seem to know a lot about GL.

I picked up a GL on sunday, and i was literally just wondering what the original plastic set would have looked like instead. Thank you!

I now have this game sitting next to my other GL. The blue color on the plastics is so different from the blue on the production playfield.

I am considering going through all the channels to get these made at some time but if the color was adjusted it might look better. At some point and time I will put some proto plastics on production game and take pics.

That’s a great find. You should share your pictures with IPDB.
There are a lot of differences!

RustyLizard I would love to purchase a set of the repro plastics. So glad you snagged the proto - you deserve it!
