There is about a million people on our forum with a multitude of skill sets so I thought I'd try and get a first opinion before I reached out to my AC guy and got his take.

Long story short is I started seeing condensation coming out of the upper pipe which I know is cause for concern. I went up and took the panel off to get a look at the coils and this is what I saw.

Advice on the cause and remedy including ballpark cost (in the Phoenix area if that makes a difference).

    Thanks in advance!!

First I'd check your drainage setup, is it clogged? That would cause condensation to form

Primary drain line clogged causing secondary drain to flow? May want to simply clean drain pan with warm water and a paint brush. no chlorine. It’s corrosive. Vacuum out condensate line with shop vac.

BTW, suction line wasn’t ran in a friendly way. Makes it harder to service.

    Quoted from Electrocute:

The large main pan is almost completely dry, I would imagine that all that condensation should be coming through the main pan correct not the inner drain inside the unit itself?

The little drain pain (inside the unit) is the primary pan. That should be the only pan that collects condensation. The big outer pan (under the whole unit) should NOT be catching water. It is a back up pan. I assume that this unit is in the attic, which is why you have a back up pan (to prevent condensation from leaking on your ceiling). It looks like the main drain is clogged. Which is why water is draining out of the secondary drain.

Not an expert at ac repair but I have had the pleasure of replacing a few coils from pinhole leaks caused by the rusting steal cab around the copper coil. On the happy side the new coils now have plastic around the copper to prevent this issue.
