There's one for sale in Grand Rapids, MN; at least as of last week there was. $6500 was the asking price.
Thanks for the heads up jk2171, I sure appreciate it!! Yea, I offered him full asking price on that MB three weeks ago and he refused it because he said he had other offers. He has re-listed four times since then, go figure....I can't.
Thanks PB_22, cannot say enough good things about you, T_G and PB_22 are two of the best in the hobby!

I can't stand people like that! Please let us know who he is so we can all avoid dealing with him in the future.

Guy's name is Len Curtiss. I offered a couple hundred less than asking, and he said he would wait for full price. Sounds like he had it, and decided to bid it up. That's a bummer, Pin_Crazed!
Yea it is him, I do not like saying anything bad about anybody which is why I did not post his name. That is bad mojo in my book to dis on anybody for their position, it is pinball, not the bad girls club. We simply could not strike a deal at full asking price, no questions, no hassles, as is. He had full asking and he refused, that pretty much says it all.
Hmmm Ohio, a bit closer C_M and I think we could work something out, I am afraid shipping/travel would kill it for me. Totan is my personal favorite, I love it, but this is a surprise birthday gift for the wife, so I am willing to part with something I really love to get her something she will really love. TOTAN is just awesome! If I did not love my wife, I would probably sell her instead and buy something else .... J/K!!
Again, thanks to everyone, pinsiders are the best, period, and I am honored to be a part of such a great place!!
Quoted from Pin_Crazed:Totan is my personal favorite, I love it ...
TOTAN really is an unbelievably fun game! I know people say that it's easy to get to the wizard mode or that it's not deep enough, but the fact of the matter is that it's a blast to play.
Grand Rapids, MN is a pretty broad interpretation of the term 'Midwest' anyway.
It's more like 'slightly south of Canada'.
Just sayin', lol.
Quoted from CadillacMusic:Does it have_ to be MB? There are a ton of other great monster themed pins. CFTBL, of course, and EATPM.
Yea it has to be MB because it is monsters and rock and roll, her two favorite themes rolled into one. CFTBL she would not be interested in, I would, but she would not. I am not saying she is hard to please, but she is hard to please
Quoted from gweempose:TOTAN really is an unbelievably fun game! I know people say that it's easy to get to the wizard mode or that it's not deep enough, but the fact of the matter is that it's a blast to play.
I could not agree more, it is just a blast to play. On that note, getting to the wizard mode is not hard, finishing it is much more challenging. Also, it comes down to how the game is setup, if it is low and slow, I can see it being very easy, a fast and furious, tuned in TOTAN will give you a hard run for your money. Makes me chuckle when people say it is too easy, I have yet to see anyone actually save the princess(and I have had some very good players here try). Close many times, I have almost had her myself more then once, but never done here. Pure fun all the way around. With a couple software tweaks to the rules, TOTAN would be a solid top 5 game.
Quoted from dvandentop:has anyone actually seen a pic of that one up in MN powered up?? sounds fishy to me
Yes he sent me pics, overall not bad, cabinet decent, PF has good wear at mosh and some trac wear. Is it worth what he insists on, no, but I was willing to eat the extra dollars to get it for her. With his seemingly greedy attitude, I am glad he said no. Seems others feel the same way, it is still for sale.

hehehe yea you are darn near Canada anywhere in northern MN. I did use Midwest a little loosely, the 5 state area would have been more specific, MN, WI, ND, SD and Iowa. I guess I am willing to drive about 500 max miles one way, anything over that and I may as well ship it.
Thanks for all the feedback guys, really means a lot and I DO appreciate it. I am still searching for a MB, the ultimate birthday gift quest continues!!
"this guy" lists a LOT somewhere?? Pynball maybe? Regardless, thanks for the heads up..I won't bother.
There are too many "good" guys to work with in this hobby, don't need the "__________" (insert fav derogatory word)

Every time he has listed it. Its always the same 6,500 dollar price though. I havent seen it listed for 4 or 5 days now but it was listed quite a few times. I was supprised it didnt go right away. Ive heard he is a good guy to deal with though. But thats only hearsay and nothing more. Then again, the recent post on Pinball Warehouse supprised me that they are a bit greedy too with thier prices on the high desirable machines. The more and more I try to get into this hobby, the more and more it gets discouraging with the way people out there are not willing to deal in pinball. Its certainly different then my other hobby of cars.
Quoted from Pin_Crazed:Still looking for a MB in the Midwest area, MN and 5 state region. Have machines for trade, TZ, Totan, Wh20. PM me, thanks!!
What happened with Len Curtis ?

Ya that's Len, I guess I should have read farther down this thread
Quoted from triumph:There is an MB for sale on CL listed for $7,000 in Denver, CO. Not exactly 'midwest', but what the heck. Just tryin' to help.
the one on CL denver looks pretty nice lil too high for me
Quoted from lukerp:Found this on Minneapolis CL
Sounds like a very friendly person to work with...
"Please note these prices are firm. Please don't even suggest a price other than what is listed. I have done my market research on the value. Thanks!"
yea I emailed them the day it posted, it has to be a fake ad. About once every 1-3 months an ad comes up in Edina for machines either at low prices or in demand machines. I never get a response, ever and it is always Edina which is 10 minutes from me
Quoted from ChevelleSSguy:MB is a great machine but I dont know about it being in the 8K range yet though.
At east not for another 6 months right

was this the dipshit wanting 8500 or so and a bunch of other high end machines, what a tool
treasure cove quoted me 8500 today for a unshopped MB that sounds like would only need a clffy too rich for my blood for a used machine

Hate to say it my friend, but it was only about a year and a half or two years ago I was saying $3800 was too rich for an MB. I also passed on an NIB Shrek for $2995, and an NIB Spiderman Black for $4500 in this same time frame. Now I wish I had bought them all, I want SM black, and Shrek, and paid way more than $3800 for my MB.
If I have bought MB for the $3800 then $6000-$6500 might get me out of it. But like Rommy if you grab one for about $6500 then work it over.......$7500 won't touch it.
Just a matter of time before collectors will have these in hand, and will like them too much to sell them. Mark my words, 1 year, $7500 or more for an off route MB. I know, I know, a lot of people will say "I won't spend that" but I know I was saying the same thing at $3800, and now if I saw an MB for $3800 I would take it in a wink of an eye, despite me saying "I will never spend that"
Any hoo, just my opinion, if MB is on your wish list.....I wouldn't wait, even if its a bit higher than you want, because soon it will be a lot higher than you want!
Inversely it could also bottom out, but there are no signs of this, the spending craze, the sky rocketing prices, and all the great shows which are thriving. First sales will have to plateau and then shows will begin suffering in attendance, the prices will start to drop some to get items sold. Pretty soon they fall. But no signs of this at all, if your not in it for the money it won't matter anyway, because if it all falls, a Monster bash will still be worth a BOP, T2, and a Funhouse (give or take) even in a bottomed out market, or a peaked out market. It only matters if you are cashing out, then ruuuh roooh Raggy
Quoted from ovfdfireman:Any hoo, just my opinion, if MB is on your wish list.....I wouldn't wait, even if its a bit higher than you want, because soon it will be a lot higher than you want!
don't wait until it's on the pinball arcade, that's for sure!
Quoted from ovfdfireman:if it all falls, a Monster Bash will still be worth a BOP, T2, and a Funhouse (
good point. i've been trying to use this logic as i try to justify buying expensive pins.
Man its hard to bite on the big priced pin, I know. But I wish I would have sooner instead of thinking about it. Also wish I was loaded but i am not, I work a second job and all that money is for pinball. Plus, I sell all my old stuff, anything i don't use....it goes to pinball too! Just make it happen, you won't regret it. Pick any hobby at all and you will drop several hundred a month. I used to race remote control cars, that was a ton of money, but not wasted.......BECAUSE IT WAS FUN!
We are all just lucky our hobby does not lose much money, but so what if you lose $500 on a pin you played for 5 years right!?!? Cheap hobby, at $10/mo
Quoted from ovfdfireman:grab one for about $6500 then work it over.......$7500 won't touch it.
3k for the work plus parts. my guess is I will end up having 11,500 or so in this MB give or take. Maybe more with all chrome everything. I absolutely do not think I could "flip" a pin like this for cash and get a return. I don't think it will ever leave, but if I were to get rid of it down the line, I would look for another collector with a really HE restore on another title for trade. I think I would get laughed off the board with a marketplace ad for a $12k MB.
But...
Quoted from ovfdfireman:two years ago I was saying $3800 was too rich for an MB
There is that.
Quoted from Pin_Crazed:I missed the HUO on CL for $5900 this morning by 15 minutes or so.
Gah! so close.
Quoted from rommy:I don't think it will ever leave,
If it will never leave, could you will it to a gorilla? Maybe I will out live you..
Quoted from Pin_Crazed:I missed the HUO on CL for $5900 this morning by 15 minutes or so.
In a word, my friend...that SUCKS
Quoted from The_Gorilla:In a word, my friend...that SUCKS
Nail on the head, guess the search continues.
Quoted from Pin_Crazed:I missed the HUO on CL for $5900 this morning by 15 minutes or so. 15 min drive from my house too. I have been running ad's for this machine since December, unreal.
wtf seriously that blows!
was it for real???? just saw ad doesnt even seem legit

The way things are going up in price. That sounds about right. These things go up in price like the cost of gasoline.

If there ever were a smack in the face. That would be it right there. Its almost as if someone is playing a sick joke on you when you see something like that man.
I feel for you on that deal. Ouch. That is if the deal was real. I saw that posting too and it didnt feel real to me either.

Well if it was or was not real it does not matter, many more machines out there. The longer the hunt the sweeter the kill.
Quoted from Nibbles:^I'd be surprised if that was a real item for sale on CL...
Must be, because "fake ads" don't sell quickly. They usually collect emails or try to scam several folks. Just my thinking on this.
