I went from Old Town, ME to North Hero, VT. It was about 330 miles and 6 hours each way. The worst part was that the machine was in an attic and the only way to get it down was on one of the those pull-down stair cases into the fellow's garage. He was 86, his wife was 85, so they weren't able to help. Oh good god was that miserable. But I got a really nice Trek for $500.

Didnt drive, but back then I wrapped in Newspaper, and cardboard and checked as luggage!
No breaks, even 35 year old glass made it!
