Lot of money for a grab bag of parts with no pics!!

#3 2 years ago

Wow way too much for all those games with no backglasses And nothing really great dont see this selling for anything near that

#4 2 years ago

That feeling when you scroll down and you see the forum option isn't disabled.

#5 2 years ago

I'll offer tree fiddy.

#6 2 years ago

LoL 15k for this? Oh wait, you pay me 15k to take it off your hands?

#7 2 years ago

Owning two Future Spas? Priceless.

#8 2 years ago

Looks like some of the mismatched parts that Gene Cunningham had stored in unheated warehouses. Wonder if this was part of the lawsuit settlement.

#9 2 years ago

Wheres the beef?!?

#10 2 years ago

There is obviously an extra number there...I just can't figure out which one it is.

#11 2 years ago

C'mon guys, it says OBO.

I suspect someone who is retired will come along with $3K and buy themselves a trailer full of partials that will take them years to part out.

If I owned it, I'd drag that trailer to the OH Show. You'd get a lot more for those games selling them individually.

#12 2 years ago

That black knight looks like it might have a nice playfield though

#13 2 years ago

Bring them to the Allentown show, I know I'd be up for buying a few there.

#14 2 years ago

Around $375 per incomplete game (conservatively), most of which are missing critical backglasses or other parts.
I will let people figure out themselves, if this is a good deal for $15K.
The trailer should be included, it looks to be in better shape overall.

Reminds me of an open air leaking warehouse full of old games here in Portland, OR.
Roughly the same amount of games in a larger space.
Owner wants over $20K, adamantly refuses to sell anything individually.

The games have continue to be rained on and rotting on CL for three years in the PNW climate.
No takers.
Games continue to be worth less every year.
Even has some good titles.

These games do look a little better protected.

These type of "bulk buys" are common during pinflation interest periods from sellers and brokers, especially from overseas locations.
I call it "passing the pile" in attempted cash outs including warehouse raids and "American Pickers" copycats.
Sometimes it actually works, but not often in the buyer's favor.

Suggestions are right, best option is to take the games to a pinball show in trailers, and sell the games and parts at the flea market.
"Items will go fast, and the rest go in the trash."

Not an optimal sales crowd on this website, OP.
Load the container for further transport for least effort to value.
Offload, open, roll out with dolley onto the pinball grass knoll.

does the deal come with the shipping container?

i.e. can it just be picked up in one piece and taken?

At that price the container is probably included.

Figure on spending $1,000 if you have to buy your own 40 footer.

#17 2 years ago

I figured more around $430 for each "complete" game (minus many backglasses) and the rest of the stuff was "free".

To take that whole lot? $4K-5K tops

#19 2 years ago
Quoted from vdojaq:

Agreed. I'd go $5,000 with the container. It would be worth my hassle to have a boneyard on my property at that price. Cobble together whole games where I can and use the rest as a defacto junkyard to complete games in my resto backlog. $15k even with obo is a non-starter.

#20 2 years ago

We owned an equivalent lot of pins, in the same kind of condition. We sold most of it to coin-op warehouse for waaaay less per pin than that. Even at 5k it's not worth it. You think you're gonna use the extra parts, but it's not as useful as you'd expect. You gotta dig through everything to find the machine that maybe has the part. Or for ten bucks you can buy a new one. It's awful cold out in that shipping container... which will you choose?

#21 2 years ago

Deal looks a little better with added pictures but from the looks of things maybe 30% of those machines would be worth trying to save. I took a little time and added things up one at a time and the best I could come up with is just under $9000 if you are really lucky and most of the boards & parts are in the "better titles". I think the worst part - other than dealing with the bulk - is there are very few "better titles" in the lot.

I did talk to the seller a little via PM but the math is tough on this one for sure. As always - I tend to over value "junk" - but even at that there is no way anywhere near $15k is close to logical on that load.

#22 2 years ago

I imagine the wife would definitely say NOOOOO

#23 2 years ago

I was with the group I'd pay maybe 5k. But @toomanypins. 9k seems like a good deal for the seller. If I were him I'd go for it. Hope you get them fix them up and get some more games in basements and out of containers. They are ment to be played!

#24 2 years ago

It looks to me like you would be purchasing a lot of boards if you wanted to complete the games that are there.

Would love to have it but not at that price.

It's a container full of junk and anybody who buys it and hauls it away at any price is doing the guy a favor.

No way, not for a group like that. Would YOU buy it for just under $9K?

I was considering it until I spent some time and looked at pictures closer. I think someone could justify something in the $7000 range if they really didn't mind a bunch of work and had parts laying around / or wanted to part most of those machines out. The issue is filling in the blanks when you have very little information other than a picture or two of a few machines and a list.

One thing that jumped out at me was calling something like that Freedom a machine when entire playfield was missing? I coin door missing, a board or two missing OK but when 1/3 of a machine is missing it really isn't a machine.

I think the right number to get the lot sold would be something in the $4500 to $5000 range and even at that it will take the right person. From past experience I have found most people wanting EM's are really not looking for SS machines and people looking for SS machines typically don't want EM's.

Then on top of that not much (if any) information on 1/2 the machines and what machines you do see pictures of have major stuff missing - etc. Everything considered it will be a tough sell at any price unless they find someone more crazy than I am.

I am confused, if you value it at just under $9K but think $4500 to $5K is the right range, then $4500 to $5K is the value.

#31 2 years ago

Valued it at $9000+ before realizing soooooooooooo much was missing on so many machines (quick add up of values), looked at pictures closer and dropped my estimate to around $7000 (since I typically pay crazy prices for some of the stuff I buy). But I think the right number for most buyers would be around $5000 (or just under).

Most people doing this are looking to make money - I do it for a "hobby" so I don't worry about turning a large profit on what I buy & sell. I am happy to cover my expenses & get lunch money out of most deals. I get called "crazy" all the time but I just love saving junk machines by bringing what is worth fixing back from the dead and parting out what isn't worth fixing to save other machines.

Without knowing more I think a "fair number" for both buyer & seller would be $5000. Anything more seller made out well and anything less buyer is getting a decent deal. But a buyer would have to know how to process everything to make a deal like that work and most buyers specialize from my past experience in the hobby - so most buyers would find a deal like this tough at any price.

Picture each game on CL individually in their current state and if you would buy it and for how much.

Not to beat a dead horse but this seems like a classic mistake.

in bulk "as-is"
OR
Make $$$ + Profit

You can rarely, if ever, do both!

#36 2 years ago

Wondering what the status of this lot is.

#37 2 years ago

Whatever the status is, you can't let that wood freeze come winter, as it will all plank like when people store a pin in an unheated garage.

#38 2 years ago
Quoted from vid1900:

the "dry warehouse" could have been a freezing dry unheated warehouse, no?

#39 2 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

Who knows?

But wood absorbs moisture from the air, then when it freezes, the wood planks under the finish.

High heat and humidity is of course bad for finished wood too...
