I like Dune - I thought they did the best they could with it with the time they had. My biggest issue was I didn't care for the source material that much but the acting and cinematography was top notch. It got way too much criticism, but my guess was that fans of the book didn't think it was enough but the critics thought it was too much, and it was sunk.
They crammed too much into one movie. It should have at least been a trilogy.
