Some pins feel like they have acres of open playfield. Stern's Star Wars and JJP's Hobbit fit that description. All the ball interactions are pushed to the far edges. What are some other pins with a similar amount of open space? Gottlieb's Black Hole and Haunted House belong on this list too.

Hobbit is a unique case is it seems very open until you start interacting with the 4 beast pop up mechs and the lower drop targets. The openness of the game can change at any moment.

Your sign on the hobbit is covering up two toys that pop up as targets and are also used to block flipper shots on the orbits. But don’t move it up too much as it will hit the other lighted toy pop ups that block the ramps and the third flipper shot to the dwarf stand ups, targets, and left vuk and orbit. Perhaps make the sign smaller? Oh wait, it would still cover the 4 rollover targets to light the Smaug lock. Better yet, just take the sign off, it makes no sense.

Popeye, I've been playing this the most lately. Rules are pretty deep.

One of my favorites: the classic Stern, Nine Ball. I was surprised how much more action you sometimes get due to the lack of stuff in the middle of the playfield.

#lexy_lightspeed All the permanent physical shots are in the back or on the side. Scoops pop up during the game.

One of the most famous, most worth money, and most fun to play with a friend or self... Midway's Flying Turns.

Banzai run. Not one of the most open playfields but plenty of room for the ball to travel.

Flight 2000.
Even with the ball walker taking up the top left quarter of the playfield, there's still a lot of open area to the right and below.

Do you own that Bank a Ball? I always wanted to play one at some point. It looks like an incredibly fair woodrail.

No I don't own one, but there are other games from this era with similar open playfields. It was an experimental time in the early days of flipper pinball. Some worked better than others.
