I know this thread is about value, but let's forget about money for a second. I like owning rare (hard to find) games just to give people something new and unusual to play. They're good for tournaments and shows. I know there's such a thing as "rare for a reason", but Strange World, Time Fantasy and Andromeda are all a lot of fun to me.

Most rare 80's games ARE fun and unique. I think some people on this thread are just hoping to drive prices down.

^^^ it's worth at least $1000 just to be able to say "I have a Big Dick".

I love my Game Plan Andromeda, just finished rebuilding the power supply tonight. I think there were 600 made, which makes it relatively rare.

I'd pay a lot of money for a "Nautilus".

Quoted from Pinballmike217:

Most of the rare games are rare because they stank and the factory couldn't sell any.

Doubtful, but maybe you'll give us a few examples (setting aside obvious targets like "Punchy the Clown").

How about this: There's no correlation between whether a game is rare and whether it's a good game. It's not "over 51%" or "most", it's simply not relevant. Game Plan and Atari made some beautiful and fun games, but they didn't sell many for whatever reason - maybe the people who actually worked for those companies can tell us their thoughts. There are more Ravens in the world than Andromedas, but I don't think that makes Raven a better pin.

Quoted from Pinballmike217:

Yes there is. Most rare games are rare because they didn't sell well. The game that is rare and good is the exception.

Stated without proof, and undoubtably with the goal/agenda of picking up some rare games cheap. Good luck with that.

Quoted from Pinballmike217:

Did someone piss in your Wheaties today? I am speaking from experience and have no hidden agenda. I've owned plenty of rare games and most don't live up to the hype. Simply sharing my experience, that's what forums are for. Care to share some of the rare games you have owned?

I love all of the rare games that I own, or have owned: Andromeda, Time Fantasy, Strange World and Congo, currently. I sold CSI to make room for The Shadow. I'm not sure what your pics are supposed to prove. I like all of those games.

If you really want to help the new guys, why not just say straight up which games you thought were bad? Generalizations don't help anyone.

Sealclubber, I have a spare working MPU for my Andromeda if you really get stuck. I could also take a look at your MPU if you like, no charge. Sometimes it's easier to troubleshoot with a known good game and boardset.

Xerico's "Dragonfist" was pretty much the highlight of my last trip to TPF. I'd love to find one of those for sale.
