I requested .900, but I'm just getting started in the process. I'll post more once I have information. Having said that I'm willing to share the design and split orders, so suggestions are welcome. As stated before, I'm quite sure the LIONMAN! will have to be much simpler. I just used that as a filler.
Quoted from Whysnow:looks good to LIONMAN!
what is the pin-fury for?
No real reason. I think it balances where the word "Liberty" is on a quarter. Although I think it sounds like a cool name for a tournament with a tie back to Swords of Fury. Perhaps if I start hosing a local tournament for friends it will be Pin-Fury! That way I can create some posters. LIONMAN!
EDIT: No idea why that one saved lighter. That's the actual color all of them have been on my original. Not sure why that one finally saved correctly.
Yeah, I actually have the vector of the LIONMAN! but I'm not sure that's going to be enough. I've sent it off to an artist to see if they can create something similar, but if anyone wants to give it a shot I'd welcome it. I figured this might actually be a design others might be interested in. Hoping I might be able to do an order of 5000 split between a few people. Maybe it won't work out, but it's a fun project.
I wasn't planning on any proceeds, but we could setup something for charity if that would make people feel better about ordering. The challenge now will be coming up with a simplified line drawing. If anyone has drawing skills it would be very LIONMAN to have options.
We'll they aren't any cheaper from China. I just sent Hoffman Mint an email. Thinking perhaps this stock token could work as the tails side. If the above costs are correct I'd be willing to to purchase 500 or 1000. It would reduce the LIONMAN costs if we could have an initial order of 5000.
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:Needs some good claws otherwise it implies house cat. Somehow just doesn't embody LIONMAN to me.
I'm pretty sure it's a lion claw used for zoo tokens, but perhaps not a true LIONMAN. If we want something custom that's fine; but otherwise we need to just choose from this list. I'm pretty flexible if others who will actual order have strong feelings. I'd be fine with any of the "no cash value", $.25, 1, video game token, etc.

Quoted from Fortytwo:If we get enough for a 5000 order
$100 roughly will get 500 tokens. Based on My calculation.
lpeters82 will have to make the final call. I don’t mean to overshadow you LIONMAN.
I'm not worried at all. This can be a group thing. I just hope the actual printable LIONMAN image will be something that people will still be interested in. I've asked the caster what are the next steps.
I couldn't think of the correct term and wasn't really sure if they were stuck, cast, punched, etc. Figured the meaning would be understood...LIONMAN.
Some progress...I'm going to keep highlighting important lines and adjusting contrast until we get an image that is simple yet recognizable as LIONMAN! They said producing a 3D rendering would be in the $1,000s so it's going to be line art. Open to suggestions, especially if you have the ability to do it better.
Alright, so we're at a point in the process where we have to commit $100 to have an artist work with the image. That amount is included in an order of 5000 tokens, but is non-refundable. I'll be honest, I am a bit worried about what the final image will become, but I'm willing to continue in the process as a part of a group.
They have indicated that the "LIONMAN" text would be legible, but the "In Lionman We Trust" would be too small. Perhaps it could be worked in another way. I'm fairly certain the above pricing would be pretty close, so about $.20 per coin. That works out to 250 tokens for $50. I think that's going to be the minimum order. Perhaps we'll sell some smaller lots off as a charity fundraiser.
Please send me a PM if you would like to commit.
Running List:
lpeters82 = 750 ($150) or 1000 ($200)
bangerjay = 500 ($100)
PDFVT = 500 ($100)
trilogybeer = 250 ($50)
Whysnow = ?
Fortytwo = 500 ($100)
Last call! I'm looking to finalize our initial order soon. Based on demand, it's looking like we're going to have to lower the initial order to 2500 units. I will communicate with those interested how this would affect the cost. I did try to overestimate shipping costs, so it might not change, but either way we'll each only be paying the actual costs. As noted in the previous post we'll likely be loosing some detail and the text on the sides is too small. LIONMAN!

Alright, so we're close enough for the 5000 units that I'll put up the $100 to proceed in the LIONMAN! process. I didn't think this was going to be the case, but they said we needed to choose a reverse side before proceeding with the front artwork. I have selected a few that I thought would be the most appropriate. If you have committed to a purchase please vote on your favorite:

I prefer your "Game Token" since it doesn't have the word "video". I swapped that out with mine on the vote. I'm also fine with the abstract if others in the group want it. Please let me know of your three which one would be your first pick. Personally I just like the lion paw since it looks like it could have been another custom design, but I'm really fine with whatever.
Perfect...LOL. Can I ask what's the meaning of the symbol in T1? Is it just a graphic or does it stand represent something? Since it's looking like we might not have a clear winner please vote for your Top-3.
Alright, I'll keep adding to the original list. I also think it will work better if we each vote for up to three with our order. Do you have a 3rd?
Alright we've officially put down $100 to start the fabrication process for the LIONMAN tokens. I will post the proof from the artist at Hoffman Mint. I'm excited and also a bit nervous. I hope they are able to create something that reflects our vision.
This is what was sent to the artist. With the T1 as the back. They do have some concerns about the level of detail, which is why I'm nervous. We would have the option of doing a sample order of 25 coins for $25, but at that point we'd also be out the $195 for the creation of the die. As of right now I've asked them to create their proof, which is the $100 commitment. Once we have that we'll be able to decide if we want to proceed with the creation of the die, basically an extra $95, plus we could do an order of 25 for $25 or just go for the 5000.
PS: I've been on the phone with them three times already today. They keep asking me about the detail I'm expecting and I keep saying I want it to be a recognizable figure. If it's not going to be a recognizable figure, I'd just assume cutting my loses. Then when they explain the detail loss to expect it's like, "The eyes are going to be solid." I guess to me that's minor, but again I just really don't know what to expect.
Quoted from Whysnow:so the "Pin-Fury" on the coins is specifically for your tournament?
LIONMAN!
Quoted from lpeters82:No real reason. I think it balances where the word "Liberty" is on a quarter. Although I think it sounds like a cool name for a tournament with a tie back to Swords of Fury. Perhaps if I start hosing a local tournament for friends it will be Pin-Fury! That way I can create some posters. LIONMAN!
There is no pin-fury on the coins. The print was too small, but our discussion about what it meant is what gave me the idea to create the LIONMAN! poster. I just decided that I didn't really need to wait for an actual tournament.
Edit: Plus the event in the poster was in 1982, so...
Yeah, I considered redoing it in a larger font but some of the others also asked if we could not include the "In LIONMAN We Trust". Given that, I figured it would be simpler to just drop it.
So at this point we are at $100 for the artist work. Assuming we are happy with this the next step is to sign off on the order of 5000. Costs are looking like they will as quoted above. Perhaps $2 cheaper, but that included $0.00 in the Tax column, perhaps there is not tax on the order. Please let me know if you have any concerns, otherwise we will proceed with the order. Not 100% sure how Pinside scales pictures, but at full screen the smaller images seem to be actual size. LIONMAN!
We went with .900" tokens since they are the easiest to adapt for quarter coin mechs. A standard token is .955", so they are .055" smaller then a quarter.
Alright, so I signed the agreement to order the 5000 tokens. If you have agreed to the initial order please check your PM for an invoice. Unless they add tax to the deal it's going to be $680.00 for the tokens, $195.00 for setup, and $82.50 for shipping...a grand total of $957.50. Since they will be billing my credit card, I'd like to collect $47.88 per 250 from everyone that has ordered. Check would be my preference, but if you are more comfortable with PayPal please try to cover the fees. I'm not looking to make any money on these, but I would prefer not to loose money either. I will PM everyone my information. LIONMAN!
As expected they did charge my CC today. They said 7-12 days for shipping, I'm thinking that's the total processing time. We should have the tokens in hand by Thanksgiving. LIONMAN!

We do still have another 1000 coins if anyone else is interested.
Yeah, I posted a forum a while ago. I'd still like to sell those 1000 tokens, but once we reached 3,500 units it really wasn't going to change the price for everyone. Scott is interested, but needs to double check the size. I'll also be dropping some off for Charlie. I'm decently sure I'll be able to sell the remainder and after that we could always run another press. Right now I'm just hoping this pressing comes out clean.

Thank you all for your prompt payment. All checks have been received, including a new purchase. I think there are still 500 left on the initial order, which could very well be the only order. If anyone is interested please let me know, ASAP. If they are not claimed, I may setup some type of charity sale where I'll sell the remainder in small lots with a portion going to charity, maybe 10 for $10 shipped with all proceeds going to charity. After shipping my guess is that would raise an extra $250 to be donated. LIONMAN!
We have a new partner. So now there are 250 tokens left. I'd be willing to buy either 500 or 750, so if someone really wants 500 we can make that work.
chill = 250 ($50) - Pd.

I think it might be possible too, but I'm not going to make any promises beyond the first 5000. If people want to guarantee a spot they should purchase the remaining 250 or 500 token spot. Basically, I don't want there to be any incentive to wait.
I might go by weight guys. I counted 500 and the weight was 5 lbs. 9.3 oz. The second half was 5 lbs. 8.5 oz. Anyone going to stress out over 3-4 coins? I figure it's going to be about as accurate as me counting that many anyway. LIONMAN!

Even if you don't put in the heater itself, you did the right thing laying the tubing. I don't have a major issue in areas where we have carpeting, but the laminate is freezing. It's always cold to the touch in winter. Right now all I have is ceiling registers and the heat never reaches the floor. Lionman!
