I keep thinking that having an overhead display (like usa football) except with 4 LCDs all showing the same image but with blinders to hide the opposing players power-ups would be cool. If you ran the 4 legs all the way to the ground you could independently level the games. there will need to be a spring steel flap between the upper playfield pie pieces to allow for slop and leveling.

    Quoted from futurepinhead:

Could you not have the glass where the 4 triangles meet separate from the main playfield glass and having them set together permanently in a pyramid? So what I am imagining is 4 playfield glasses and a glass pyramid.

or just have it a square flat piece of glass that could be lifted off separately. that would be way simpler, cleaper and look better.

or, have the top marquis ala a 4 dimentional usa football and have vertical glass on all 4 sides. you can have absurd things in the box like blinders, elevators that pick up the ball, etc.

setting up the game would be first leveling the center section like a mini claw game and then keying in the 4 playfield sections that would hang off the center section. the boards can be all kept in the bottom of the claw game sized section.

anyone need any more bad ideas? It's all shots on goal

how will it look having a 4 sided upper marquis instead of the dmd on the side of the neighboring cab?

a lot could be communicated with lighting even with the one music track. if say one player has a powerup ready that player's playfield could be lit all strobey with a change in the overall music feel until they use it or time runs out. this could then allow the other players to try and gang up on that player by making any shots that would deprive that player of scoring opportunities.

if you go with the 5 piece design (center stand-alone section and 4 game sections) you can make a plywood pyramid for the center and then sand down the corners (might have to use 3/4" wood and some filler, or fiberglass). leveling, set-up and moving will be easier. you would need to do some cuts in the ramps and lane guides, but it should be easier to service.

what about have the balls go into the pyramid through a tube and have an under playfield flap fire them back to the player. I was thinking of rules like if more than one player shoots the bowl then the first player in gets all the balls, or random? the mech could be a rotating ball trough.

like I said, shots on goal.
