5 Target Circuit Board A14517 (resized).jpg
#1 4 years ago

Hi all...

I'm having a weird problem.
Some of the lights won't light up on my Terminator 2 Pin.

It's quite a few lamps.
When I did some investigating, I realized that the lamps were all from 2 different cross sections of the lamp matrix.
Row 3 / Col 3
Row 8 / Col 8

Row 3/ Col 3 lands on the (leftside) target 3. I replaced the resistor on that lamp, which makes me think I have the incorrect resistor in there. Anyone know the correct resistor for this circuit board ? (board A-14517 5768-12790-00 see attached) The best I can see on the other resistors is that they say "N1" on them.

Row 8/ Col 8 lands on Top Lane Right light. I haven't touched that lamp. (besides replacing all bulbs with LED lights)

Any ideas on fixing these issues ?

thanks in advance

Those are blocking diodes. Usually 1N4004

The typical cause of lamps in PCB carriers not working are...
1. fractured header solder joints. Reflow them.
2. "divots" in the PCB solder pool where the twist-in socket settles. Reflow that solder, adding a bit more.
3. Fatigued twist in socket. Swap it with another socket.

Chris,

Would a unlit lamp knock out the whole row/colum of a lamp matrix ?

Did it quit working when you put the LEDs in?

No, I put the LEDs in almost a year ago.

I did replace the original T2 skull with the Loot Crate skull.
I rewired the eye lights behind it.
They konked out on me a little after installing that.

An unlit LED, depending on the reason, can cause larger problems. Sometimes they short with a lot of side effects.
But generally, a single unlit lamp is either the wires leading to it, the socket, the isolation diode, or the lamp itself.
