UPDATE:

Jan 2023 - Have taken a break from the general making of Lit Kit Flippers. They have been a lot of fun, and require a lot of time to make with a multi day process. Looking forward to working on additional features and pinball projects.

3/30/22 Texas Pinball Festival - had a booth right up front at entrance (see last page for a video) and had a great time with fellow Pinsiders and arcade and pinball enthusiasts. Quantities were sold out at the show. Looking forward to getting Lit Kit Flippers available on more games and platforms as well. It was great opportunity for many people to see and interact with Lit Kit Flippers in person.

1/26/22 Recent additions include working on Lit Kits for Twilight Zone, Godzilla, Attack from Mars, Dr Who, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Tales from Crypt variant, the Hobbit, Street Fighter 2 and other pinball machine mods.

10/27/21 Chicago Pinball Expo Update: Lit Kit Flippers will be on display at a booth. The chairman/founder of the expo, called to say he very much liked the flippers and wanted to get them at the expo. He offered to fly me in and set me up with a booth to get them there.

Charity Auction: check out the Project Pinball silent charity auction to view all the items including a Lit Kit donated to raise funds.

KevInBuffalo Was attempting to arrange to get some photos for Tron, and planning for a left yellow flipper with clear rubber and a right blue flipper with a clear rubber, or solid yellow rubber and solid blue rubber.

Generally the way they are designed to work they have had good compatibility with many games/makes/series. The link in the first post will give you some more detailed info too.

That flipper on Whitewater is literally some icing on the proverbial flipper cake there! Liking that install!

Good comment, the camera can have a tough time with contrast on these, so they aren’t quite at the brightness level that can appear in photos/video in real life.

Thanks for the feedback all, and I'd received a lot of feedback prior as well from different individuals. Just attempting to make something sustainable that works well and that I could continue to do and not be overwhelmed with, as there is a lot of labor, a multi day process involved to make them and specialized parts to take into account for durability. One good thing is that they are a mod a person gets to interact with in most of the modes a person will play in.

Sure, yes, I can make a kit for Stern Star Trek.

Yeah, I think they are a good mod as you get to interact with them virtually all the time. The cameras can have difficulty representing the flippers with brightness and contrast accurately as to how things appear in person, though there are a couple diffusion layers and some flippers are also made in a different style depending on the game etc and I have a couple of different lighting methods. You can look at the White Water example and the Ghost Busters pink above which are made in a bit different way and give the appearance of perhaps a more solid continuous light as far as the camera photos are concerned.

For both Diner and GOT, I like the how the lighted flippers also coordinate with the backglass colors and make them standout.

The majority of the lighted flippers I’ve made are initially designed with a specific color in mind to keep things easy for the user and have a kit be themed for a specific pinball game. A major aim was also to keep costs lower so they can be enjoyed and installed on more machines. I wasn’t aware of flippers that had lights previously before I had designed these, though my design uses a different approach and wiring system in order to be durable and also lend compatibility with many pins. To my understanding, these also perhaps cost roughly 40-50% less so I am happy for that.

So far it has been a pleasant journey, and looking forward to making kits for most of the top 100 pinside pins and beyond. It’s all for fun.

I'm also more than happy to accommodate and make custom length wires to allow more games to be compatible as have done with specific games currently. Just message me regarding a potential solution. The ArcadeMade.com website has nearly 30 games posted now, but more games have had kits made for them too that will be added, and of course many games in a particular system will be similar.

Street Fighter is kind of fun with four lit flippers.

The fourth flipper on the lower playfield specifically flashes then remains lit during that game mode which is a unique addition.

Blue light is always difficult to photograph, the car crash one is most representative I think and appears a bit less bright in real life (which I like).

Another dimension of pinball… Lit Kit Flippers in the Twilight Zone.

Lately I’ve been having fun working on this mod kit which includes a new mini lighted flipper created specially for TZ. The colors are based on those in the original flyer.

Tomorrow I’m planning to post a video of game play.

Have a couple potential ideas, I’ll just need get personal access to view/measure somethings further for lighting that. Could also have a green tail topper stick-on for that third flipper as well and leave the main two flippers with the fire below as the lit up ones.

Thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated. The version of flippers installed in the machine were one of the earliest versions. To my understanding, they were also installed and played at a pinball expo so they may also have received a lot of plays in a relatively short period of time.

In the seven months since then, several revision updates have been implemented to the design, both for strength and wiring. So far, regarding durability, the response has been really nice and people have been enjoying them with good feedback from those who had initially used them on location and many who had been primarily using them in a home setting. As they are quite involved to make, the main goal for them has been to make something for fun.
