Got a few nice marquees that I would love to have small wooden light boxes made with some backlit LED lighting. Anyone on pinside make these or know where I can buy some? Especially want to get a nice one made for my Tron Marquee.

Quoted from Phetishboy:Yep I do. I'll post pics of some of my work tonight.
I would possibly be interested, please post how much you sell them for.

+1
Great idea!
Well after the holidays and several other vendor and postal delays, I finally have your TRON marquee box mocked up and ready for assembly. These pics are in progress, it still needs T-molding, a light fixture, a power switch and wiring. I'll use my TRON arcade marquee for test fitting and final photos hopefully after this weekend. This gives you a good idea of how it is looking so far though:

Wow, nice work! I've got a Cheyenne by Exidy marquee I need to rig up. What would you charge for something like that?
Base price is $175 shipped. That price does not include a marquee or shipping outside the continental US. If you want any other special features added, the price goes up accordingly. They take about a month to complete and I only like to work on 2 or 3 of them at a time so it doesn't get overwhelming.
Wow, very impressive!
So do you take delivery of the marquee and then install before shipping or do you build and ship without needing it? Thanx,

I have done that before, but it's not necessary (I currently have a Kong-Off II marquee that was drop-shipped to me for this purpose). If I have the marquee on hand, I just use it for test fitting, if I don't, I just need *accurate* measurements of the marquee you need a box for. I try to go about 1/16" - 3/32" larger width-wise so there are no surprises when the buyer goes to install their marquee.

Thanx for the info and again you are doing some nice work...thread is saved for future requests!
WOW! Those are awesome looking! I made of few light boxes out of the left over wood after building my MAME cab. I just need to get some marquee's printed and light. Using the peg board in the back does it have light leaking out? Nice work!

Thanks. Yeah light would leak out if they were set on a table, but mine are meant to be mounted on a wall, so the wall stops the light leaks. Light does leak out of the air vents on the top and bottom, but it's a cool effect.

Like what I see so far and it will look great in my gameroom when it is finished
Quoted from billsfanmd:My Tron box arrived today. It looks awesome. Great Job! Looks great in the gameroom.
Excellent. Thanks again for the business.
I love the idea of using an old millipede cocktail game as a work surface! Not that you were doing that, but I'm thinking about it!
Nice way to display marquees!
Quoted from zippydapinhead:Not as professional looking as Phetishboy's, but i thought the rustic look went better with this theme. BTW - if you can't find your woodburning tool, a soldering iron cranked up works almost as good.
You nailed it. Daddy Like. I love that Barb wire look. I think even John Wayne woulda hung that in his hacienda with quiet pride.
Hey guys, I received your artwork in the mail yesterday (finally). I should be wrapping these 3 boxes up by the weekend. Appreciate the patience. Tron guy, here's your box sans art and T-molding:
Just need to decide on a T-molding and bracket color. I think all blue would be nice, but orange or even black would work as well. I left the brackets brushed aluminum for the time being:
And lit up:

Might be the funniest thing I have ever read on here!
Quoted from Phetishboy:OK, Litz, Kong Off II finally done:
Nice!!!! I love the custom side art. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this project.
Hi, I have 4 marquees being shipped to me. Will pm you with the info. I just love how these look. Great job !!
Hey guys, due to the post office raising rates and getting careless with packages, I need to bump my shipped price to a flat $175 in the CONUS, which will include insurance.

How did you know Phetish?
Also Phetish, just got the marquee in and fired 'er up. This is so incredibly awesome!!! I'm an architect/design guy AND a perfectionist, and I could not be more pleased. I only threw in the architect thing because I think the design is perfect, it just oozes class and arcade retro. Thanks so much for your hard work. You are amazing!
