I agree that properly restoring and clearcoating a playfield is the way to go.
But for $99, these are a good option, especially on an older game with damaged inserts.

If you was going to put a playfield protector on a new Stern...would you prep the new playfield first (strip sterns wax coat). or just lay it down?
