Quoted from cosmokramer:

How great would it be to have the game art screened on the underside if the protector....Bam, game looks new

^^^ THIS ^^^!

This could be a very lucrative new market for you and really help out a lot of older games. Even if you had to print the playfield graphics on one sheet and secure the protector layer on top (sealed somehow to protect for dirt collecting, etc.) it would be fanstastic!

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Thanks for pointing that out. Very helpful.
This thread is about Lexan protectors. People are supposed to provide their feedback. Sorry you don't like what I have to say. I think people thinking of installing these might be interested in my opinion, rather than people who have already bought one and somehow have their feelings hurt that not everybody loves them (that's so weird).
Your Games must have been a freaking mess before you put these on if they play better now.

Levi, do you have any actual hands-on experience with the latest generation of these protectors that you are basing your opinions on? Or just theorizing that they might make a game play poorly and might cause some kind of strange wear to the playfield, though nobody here has reported that yet?

I would generally agree that they shouldn't be necessary on a new or refinished playfield with clearcoat. However, I have also heard reports that they prevent dimpling on new playfields, and with all the problems with new Stern playfields chipping and ghosting prematurely, I can see why it might be considered a good idea to protect even a new playfield with one of these.

In any case, I have played older SS games with these installed and it was a vast improvement in both play and appearance.

Best I could do with an iPhone. I’m not a photographer.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I'd be thankful the protector took that damage and not the playfield.

I wonder what the balls look like on that game, pretty nasty I'm guessing.
