    Quoted from Zampinator:

Vid is Not going to be Happy!

    I'm totally happy.

This is Robin's baby, and he lets us hold it and coo all over it, without us being committed to changing it's diaper.

I travel the globe, and other than someplaces like Saudi Arabia, the USA has become a VERY conservative place the past 30 years.

The Pinside servers are in the USA.

If Robin no longer wants pictures of sexy girls playing pinball, that's OK. It's not like anyone is going to die because they can't find a thread about girls squishing their boobs against the playfield glass.

Vid is Not going to be Happy!

    Quoted from dgpinball:

One of the worst offenders IMO

    LOL

Offender would imply some sort of wrongdoing.

Robin and I have had exchanges where he clearly set the guidelines.

    No nudity.

    No porn.

All of my beautiful images of the male and female form were carefully censored to display absolutely no nipples (a big sin in the USA), no pubic hair, and no actual porn.

The same standards as you would encounter at any public beach or Sunday newspaper ad.

    - and like I always say, if you don't like what I post, click the ignore button, I use it all the time.

    Quoted from o-din:

It looks like K-mart has an outstanding line of bathing suits this year.

I've been cranking to that same ad since 1975.

    Quoted from starfighter:

Is sending a request to a moderator the only way to have my account deactivated? I can't find a request button on the site.

The ONLY way to leave Pinside is with a giant post explaining why you are unhappy and are thus leaving (again).

Then someone will say they are sorry you feel have to go, and hope you come back at some point.

Then someone else will say they are sorry that the people here drove them off, and it's a shame.

    So you can't just deactivate.

You have to put some drama into it.

    Quoted from Aurich:

It's sad to me how many people who are passionate about pinball are talking about how they never want to come to Pinside because of all the sexism

I thought that was Stern's Facebook with people traumatized about Whoa Nelly?

    #150 8 years ago
    Quoted from o-din:

Could just be that time of month?

    Pinheads are an old bunch.

I don't think there are any who are pre-menopausal.

    #155 8 years ago
    Quoted from starfighter:

    OK Vid... just for you..
    drama on-
    TITTIE
    drama off-
    see ya

I'm sorry a few crappy but vocal Pinsiders drove you off. Please consider coming back to us someday when it feels right to you.

    Quoted from mcluvin:

I bet those 2 clowns can still post on the forum like nothing happened if they chose to.

    And that's a good thing.

If someday their attorneys allow them to talk, you probably want to hear what's on the other side of a black hole.

    #346 8 years ago
    Quoted from mcluvin:

I think I've seen enough responses from the horses mouth to know it will just be more BS. You don't think so huh? They are finally gonna see the light and tell the truth?

I don't think it will be a huge reveal, but a fun retelling "Nov 2013, that's when I first got that feeling that I might be over my head...." would be interesting.

Or maybe even an apology at some point. Let them cleanse their darkened souls.

    Quoted from swampfire:

calling them "broads" and other conversation I wouldn't allow in a decent bar, much less in a pinball forum.

Broad is simply a shortened word for the phrase "Abroad Wife", referring to a local lover while your main squeeze is abroad. Traveling salesmen and real (non military) sailors use the term with much affection.

A show on PBS said that some people though that the term came from the fact that playing cards used to be called "broads", but they disproved that.

    He'll say, "Are you married?"

We'll say, "No man, but you can do the job
    While you're in town"

    Quoted from vanilla:

Someone mentioned downvoting. I think having downvotes on any website is just asking for trouble. It's not like pinball is a crucial matter, so why ask for drama?

You need downvoting because sometimes someone makes an authoritative tech post that is completely wrong.

Without downvoting, someone might read only that far into the thread and take the posting as gospel.

    #382 8 years ago
    Quoted from pezpunk:

back to reality: nobody uses the term in that manner.

Someone who lives an dies 50 miles from where they were born might not, but people who travel the world for pleasure or business will certainly use the word to speak fondly of a lover.

    #385 8 years ago
    Quoted from swampfire:

    From http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=broad
"Earliest use of the slang word suggests immorality or coarse, low-class women. Because of this negative association, and the rise of women's athletics, the track and field broad jump was changed to the long jump c. 1967."
    The more you know...

You cleverly edited out the part that said: " but it also might trace to American English abroadwife"

    The more you know.....

....the more you have to check the references for yourself, LOL

    In person vs. online.jpg

Funniest thing in this whole thread

    #397 8 years ago
    Quoted from swampfire:

Right, and you cleverly edited out the more important point in my post.

I quoted your entire post. What are you babbling on about?

    Quoted from swampfire:

I'll find somewhere I don't have to get my pinball advice from someone who lives in 1957.

I was very much alive in 1957.

Here is another term for you to study:

Ageism (also spelled "agism") is stereotyping and discriminating against individuals or groups on the basis of their age.

    Quoted from swampfire:

Let's cut to the chase...do you really think it's okay to call a woman's vagina a "clam"?

If a woman calls my Penis a "Cock", "Prick" or a "Hammer" is that OK????

    Of course it is.

There have been pet names for genitals for 100000000's of years.

The hamburger chain Hooters got its name from a Steve Martin skit where he tries to find several non-offensive terms for a woman's breasts.

It's only when puritans (I won't point any fingers here) get crazy in public that we have terms for Chicken like "Dark Meat" and "Light Meat" because calling them Legs, breasts or Thighs is way too dirty.

    #428 8 years ago
    Quoted from Aurich:

Anyone running around talking about the sky falling because Pinside is going to be too restrictive is being a Chicken Little. Some people probably will leave.

Even if the sky does fall and many valued Pinsiders leave, the "No Hot Pinball Chicks Rule" can always be lifted or modified.

It's not like the rule is carved in stone.

    Quoted from jsrfo:

If you feel the urge to post pictures of boobs here, step out from behind the anonymity of the computer screen, and think about how your grandmother, mother, wife and/or daughter would feel about that. Tell any one of them face to face, that you are posting pictures of naked women on a public forum, and see their reaction, knowing their son, grandson, husband or father felt the need to do that to express themselves. To each their own, but I’m just trying to make a point.

What you are missing is that NO pictures of boobs have been posted.

No nudity at all exists on Pinside, it has never been allowed.

    Tell that to your grandmother.

    #467 8 years ago
    Quoted from jwilson:

If you really think it's okay to call women "broads", you don't even belong in this century, let alone Pinside.
Reminds me of grandma's "casual racism" at the Thanksgiving dinner table. It's embarrassing.

    Quoted from MXV:

Personally the only thing I find offensive on pinside is the butchering of the English language and how so many people don't know the difference between your and you're or their, they're, and there.

Not everyone got a chance at the same education we did.

Not everyone is a native speaker of English.

And anyone who uses Android Speech to Text on their phone is bound to post **great** results.

We must except that as truth.

    #474 8 years ago
    Quoted from jwilson:

I guess Pinside just isn't for you, Vid. That's too bad, your how-tos are pretty great and they'll be missed.

Robin has asked you to be nice, and you just keep droning.

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............

    Quoted from taylor34:

I'm a member of two other heavily male dominated forums, the avsforum,

I too quit posting on AVS long ago.

If you add a link you are accused by the moderators of "Promoting your own product", if you post too many times in a row (like a "how to" thread) you get a time-out.

Even sadder, is that it used to be a great site.

I pray Pinside never gets as moderated as AVS.

    #501 8 years ago
    Quoted from jsrfo:

OK, I get it, but I was just referring to the half dozen other posts that referenced boobs and pictures of boobs.

I get what you are saying.

I simply was amazed that there are about 200 posts in this thread that mention "Boob Pics", yet not a single boob pic exists on Pinside.

    #507 8 years ago
    Quoted from thedefog:

I think we need clarification here, not a single boob pic showing nipples. Plenty of boob pics here.

If a "Boob Pic" is any picture that shows cleavage at some angle, then we've got to get on my Sunday Newspaper editor.

100 of Boob Pics: Macy's, Target, Kmart, even friggin' Dollar General - What if a child was looking for the toy section and saw a woman in a bikini???? I'm appalled and sickened by the decline of Western Civilization.

    Quoted from Olddragon:

I just got done reading a thread where Pinball Molly said sayonara

Pinball Molly will quit Pinside with big drama, and then return under a new name from time to time - nothing to see here.

    Quoted from Olddragon:

the very next thread I pick is this one. What happened?

Robin said no more "sexy girl laying on a pinball machine" pics. The era of pin-beauty has ended.
