    Quoted from jfesler:

    This last category is the one I have the most problem with; they create the most negativity here. Not just transiently but consistently and pervasively. I wish I had an answer on how to address it that didn't penalize potential new members, who found us with a web search for help on their new-to-them machine.

    Case in point: just yesterday, I helped some neighbors get their first pin (not one of mine, BTW). They have three little kids, and the machine is a big hit with the whole family. I want to help them out further, but I am a little wary of encouraging them to visit Pinside. I do think there is a chance that the culture of this site (technically, of a small but very vocal part of it) will turn them off. I take it that these are some of the people Robin would like to feel welcome here.

    Quoted from gambit3113:

    Did you tell them to avoid going to the grocery store and the mall, also? What about the movies? Tell them not to turn on the TV or read a magazine? Don't want them exposed to any different or colorful culture, you know. Good watching out!

    You are jumping to conclusions. It is primarily the relentless negativity found in so many threads that concerned me. Actually, your response comes close to exemplifying my point.

    Quoted from LTG:

    Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer Wiener, that is what I truly want to be. etc. etc.

    But Lloyd, everyone is already in love with you!

    Quoted from s1500:

    Let's not create the pinhead stigma of a dirty old man in his 50s who you keep your kids away from.

    50s = old? I'm offended!
